Merino lambskin or sheepskin – Relugan tannery (medical grade) – Kaiser, Germany

The secret to peaceful sleep, natural comfort
 and a perfectly regulated temperature.

Do you recognize yourself in these situations?

  • Is your child sweating in bed, waking up soaked and crying?
  • You finally get him to sleep
but as soon as he touches a cold bed, he wakes up?
  • On vacation or in an unfamiliar bed, does falling asleep become a battle?
  • Do bedwetting accidents force you to change the sheets in the middle of the night?
  • Are you looking for a natural play mat that is thick, warm in winter and breathable in summer?
  • Would you like a versatile portable mat: for bed, play, changing, stroller?
  • Would you like a durable item that will accompany your child throughout their life
and then become a beautiful decorative piece?
  • Do you yourself sweat in the car and dream of finally arriving dry?

Kaiser's Merino lambskin addresses all these issues.
It's an essential item that you adopt... and then never leave behind.

Kaiser Merino lambskin is distinguished by its exceptional density and remarkable softness.

Its golden color is not a dye, but the natural result of its Relugan tanning: a gentle, controlled and low-polluting process that gives the skin its characteristic honey tint.

Why choose Relugan lambskin?

Natural, undyed lambskin.
Relugan medical tanning, chrome-free, hypoallergenic, soft, breathable.

Several sizes are available:

  • approximately 80-90 cm
  • approximately 90-100 cm

Hair length: approximately 30 mm

Also available in "Natural" quality (traditional breed)

Its natural properties:

  • All-season temperature regulator
  • Cool in summer, warm in winter
  • Absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture before feeling wet.
  • Naturally antibacterial (bacteria and viruses do not grow on the naturally acidic surface of keratin)
  • It absorbs the parents' scent => a hugely reassuring effect for the baby
  • It follows the child everywhere they go, like a comforting and reassuring cuddly toy.
  • Universal use: bed, stroller, play mat, changing mat, decoration

One product, years of use.

A lasting and useful baby gift!

A sheepskin is one of the most appreciated gifts for new parents.
It is useful in all seasons, in all situations.

And unlike a regular sheet, it lasts for years.
It accompanies the child
then will find a beautiful use on an armchair, a cozy decorative element.

There's no age limit for starting to sleep on a sheepskin!

More and more adults are also using it in the car, to avoid perspiration on leather or synthetic seats: immediate comfort, summer and winter.

It cleans itself thanks to natural lanolin.

‱ Use a special skin-friendly laundry detergent enriched with lanolin from Ulrich NatĂŒrlich

‱ Dry flat, away from sunlight or heat sources
‱ Reshape regularly during drying
Once dry, roll it up to soften it.

Questions fréquentes

‱ From what age can a lambskin be used?
From birth. Relugan tanning (known as “medical”, chrome-free) is designed for baby/child use and complies with European safety standards.

‱ Doesn't the skin get too hot in summer?
No. Wool naturally regulates temperature: it stays cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold. This is one of its major advantages over synthetic coverings.

‱ Can it be used directly in a baby bed without a sheet over it?
Yes. To fully benefit from the thermoregulating and self-cleaning properties of wool, it is best to use the sheepskin directly, without a sheet over it. The short pile (30 mm) of the Relugan tanned sheepskin is designed for direct and safe contact, while still allowing air to circulate and moisture to be regulated naturally.

‱ Is the skin suitable for people with allergies?
Yes. You can't be allergic to wool. On the contrary: sleeping on natural skin strengthens the immune system and reduces the risk of allergies, because it doesn't offer an artificially "sterile" environment.

‱ How to manage urine leaks?
There is no need to wash the skin. Airing it out is sufficient: Relugan skins do not retain odor or residual moisture thanks to natural lanolin.

‱ Do I need to wash my skin before first use?
Absolutely not. A natural sheep smell is normal at first. Just let it air out for a few days. The first wash always weakens the leather: it should be reserved for exceptional circumstances.

‱ Can you machine wash the skin?
No, it is still not recommended. Hand washing is strongly advised, and only if absolutely necessary (exceptional cases: vomiting, gastroenteritis, significant soiling).
Drying must be done strictly flat, without twisting, without mechanical wringing, without radiator or direct sunlight.

‱ Does the skin lose its hair?
Like our hair, yes. But also – a light down may appear at first, that's normal. Regular brushing removes this excess and stabilizes the coat.

‱ Can it also be used for adults?
Yes, absolutely. It improves thermal comfort, absorbs moisture, and promotes sleep. Many adults use it in the car, on their office chair, or directly on the bed.

Conseils de Yuliya

‱ Don't start with a small size: choose 80–90 cm or 90–100 cm directly
‱ Place the skin in the bed with the narrow side facing the legs
‱ Avoid buying long-haired and Mimosa skins (white, non-washable) for babies
‱ A sheepskin used outdoors (stroller) should not be used in bed (hygiene).
‱ Upon receipt: do not wash it! The natural odor is normal => air it out for a few days
‱ Before using it with your baby: sleep on it for 2–3 nights to transfer your scent

"I discovered lambskin in 2009 when I saw a mother using it in 30°C weather in a stroller.
I thought to myself, "She's crazy"... while my baby was sweating in hers.
In the end, it was my second child who had the chance to benefit from it from the beginning.
My eldest son, on the other hand, lost 4 years of comfort because of my prejudices.

Since 2012, Kaiser hides have been everywhere in our home: beds, armchairs, car, travel »

Kaiser
