You are looking for:

  • A natural thermoregulating garment, but softer than pure wool, if your child finds it still slightly irritating?
  • Pants for very sensitive or reactive skin, with breathable and comfortable natural fibers?
  • A thin, discreet, and thermoregulating second skin, to wear all year round?
  • A garment that helps manage a child's perspiration, especially when transitioning between indoors and outdoors, to prevent the sensation of cold on a damp back?

Description

Baby pants in organic merino wool - silk - cotton, from the German eco-friendly brand Cosilana.

Extremely soft, thin and warm pants, designed to be worn directly on the skin. Ideal as thermal underwear in winter, as pajamas, or as a stand-alone garment for the rest of the year.

  • Very wide and soft waistband, comfortable, without compression, suitable for day and night wear.
  • Comfortable cut, designed for babies wearing cloth diapers.
  • Soft elastic at the ankles for gentle support without leaving marks on the skin.
  • Natural thermoregulation: helps keep skin dry and comfortable.
  • Versatile: thermal underwear, pajamas, or bodysuit worn alone.

This is the garment to have as an essential first layer, the one that directly influences the body's overall thermoregulation.

This precious layer, made of untreated natural fibers, keeps the skin dry. The dried air can then be warmed by our own body heat and retained by the intermediate layer of pure wool worn over it.

The first layer is the most important. It is in direct contact with the skin and determines the body's entire thermoregulation. It must be natural!

Its role is not to "heat," but to:

  • absorb moisture (perspiration),
  • keep the skin dry,
  • create a thin layer of dry air around the body.

Untreated wool (or wool-silk) is particularly effective for this function, unlike synthetic fibers which retain moisture against the skin.

The wool and silk blend combines:

  • the thermoregulating and breathable properties of wool,
  • Silk is an exceptionally smooth and fine natural fiber, renowned for its softness and comfort on the skin.
It creates an enveloping sensation, like a textile cocoon, respectful and soothing, which protects the skin from rubbing and external aggressions. On the skin, silk reproduces this cocoon sensation: an incredibly smooth, enveloping, and soothing touch that respects the skin and creates a soft barrier between the body and the environment. Combined with merino wool, it transforms this garment into a true living second skin, protective, breathable, and naturally comfortable.

Material details (wool-silk-cotton):

The presence of cotton (45%) stabilizes the knit and allows for machine washing at 30°C (gentle spin max. 400 rpm), with special wool detergent.
This blend offers simpler maintenance while retaining the natural qualities of wool and silk. The thermal and regulating performance remains slightly lower than that of pure wool or wool-silk, but perfectly suitable for everyday use.

Colors:

Blue, pink, gray, mottled green, mottled yellow, mottled burgundy, ecru

Available sizes:

50/56 cm, 62/68 cm, 74/80 cm, 86/92 cm, 98/104 cm

Understanding Cosilana sizes

At Cosilana, each size is designed to last until the next size. For example: a size 86/92 is designed to cover the entire growth period up to the next size, which is approximately from 86 to 98 cm (and often beyond depending on the child's morphology).

Therefore, it is not a garment strictly limited to 86-92 cm, but an adaptable size designed to accommodate growth over an extended period.

Composition

Organic cotton 45%, merino wool 35% / silk 20%

Cosilana clothing is made exclusively from high-quality natural fibers. The brand uses merino wool, fine silk, and organic cotton, as well as blends of these natural fibers, selected for their softness, breathability, and comfort against the skin.

These materials come from controlled organic farming and livestock breeding, without chemical pesticides or synthetic additives.

Maintenance tips

Untreated wool/silk/cotton garments do not need to be washed after every use. Multiple uses are perfectly possible, provided they are aired out.

• Routine maintenance

Regular ventilation in the open air (outdoors if possible, or in front of an open window)
Rest after each use: hang on a hanger or drying rack and do not leave crumpled up)
Spot clean stains under running water with Ulrich gall soap or genuine Marseille soap

• Washing

Hand washing: cold or lukewarm water, special wool detergent, without rubbing. Use a stain-removing soap beforehand if necessary.

Machine wash: 30°C maximum, gentle spin 400 rpm max., wool program or hand wash. Use a special wool detergent.

This garment does not require lanolin treatment.

Manufacturing & Ecology

Cosilana is proud to be one of the few remaining brands that have not used any treatment for over 50 years, to preserve the properties intact!

Cosilana uses exclusively natural fibers from controlled organic farming and livestock operations, without pesticides or chemical additives. The wool comes primarily from selected farms in Patagonia and meets the requirements of organic agriculture.

Production takes place in Hechingen (Germany), with regional manufacturing allowing continuous traceability and reduced transport.

The yarns used are certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which audits the entire textile chain—raw materials, processing, environmental and social aspects—through independent organizations. The brand also stems from the IVN initiative, a long-established natural textile organization.

This approach is based on a constant principle: respect for the environment and for people, with clothing designed to last while preserving the natural properties of the fiber.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Is it hot?
Yes, but in a thermoregulated way. The wool keeps the skin dry and creates an insulating layer of air warmed by body heat. The bodysuit is thin, but functions as a basic thermal layer.

• Can it be worn on its own?
Both are possible:
- as trousers alone in summer,
- as a first layer under other trousers or a jumpsuit/sleeping bag.

• Can it be worn for a long time without washing, like pure wool?
No, a little less time, but it's very subjective. One thing is certain: there's no need to wash this garment after every use. Even a urine leak won't stay with simple airing in fresh air.
Wool is naturally breathable and limits odors, which allows for less frequent washing.
The presence of silk does not negate this property; it is also a thermoregulating material, but it is recommended to air the garment between wears to prolong its freshness and lifespan.

• Does wool make you itch?
The combination of fine merino wool and organic silk is renowned for its softness. The silk provides a smooth feel directly against the skin, making this garment generally very well tolerated by sensitive skin.
However, since skin sensitivity is individual, perception may vary from person to person.

• Is it suitable for sensitive skin (eczema, reactive skin)?
Absolutely!
Fine wool and silk are breathable natural fibers, often appreciated by sensitive skin, with improvements noted by my clients.
This product is not a medical device, but it is designed to be worn directly on the skin with maximum comfort.

• Is it machine washable ?
Yes. Wool program at 30°C with gentle spin (max. 400 rpm), special wool detergent

Yuliya's Tips

• Choose the size based on the child's height in centimeters, not their age.
Each size is designed to be worn until the child reaches the next size.
For example :
A size 62/68 can be worn as long as the child measures between 62 cm and approximately 74 cm (the next size up).
and not only between 62 cm and 68 cm.

• It is not necessary to wash this garment after each use. Wool-silk-cotton garments can be worn several times with simple airing between wears.
Small stains can be cleaned locally by hand, without washing the entire garment.
Even in the case of small urine leaks, a complete wash is not always necessary: airing is often enough to refresh the fiber thanks to the naturally breathable properties of wool.

• This product is one of my absolute favorites and I highly recommend it! It's an essential first layer that will influence all the other layers of clothing.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich products (laundry detergent, treatment, stain-removing soap) are highly recommended.

Cosilana

For over half a century, Cosilana has followed a simple principle: not to correct the fiber, but to preserve it. At a time when industrial treatments have become widespread to adapt textiles to modern habits, the brand has chosen to continue manufacturing differently, preserving materials as they naturally function.

Based in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, production remains closely tied to regional textile expertise. Organic fibers are processed using controlled methods to preserve their original qualities, while GOTS certification regulates both the environment and manufacturing conditions.

Cosilana hasn't evolved towards faster fashion, but towards more sustainable consistency: producing fewer technical effects and greater stability over time. The garment isn't designed to follow a single season, but to accompany its daily wear for a long time.
