The boiled wool women's coat has been an iconic piece in the Disana collection for many years. For the Autumn/Winter 25/26 and 26/27 seasons, it has been revisited in a completely new silhouette, with classic, elegant, and timeless lines.

Its chic style is enhanced by a refined button placket, adorned with large buttons made of tagua nut, a plant-based, sustainable and ethical alternative to ivory.

Made from boiled organic merino wool, this coat offers excellent protection against wind and moisture while remaining breathable. Its dense and robust material makes it ideal for autumn outings and cooler temperatures.

It allows you to fully enjoy the exceptional natural properties of merino wool: thermoregulation, breathability, odor resistance and thermal comfort without feeling overheated.

    Cut and style

Straight, oversized cut , modern and comfortable, offering enough room to layer several layers of wool if necessary in very cold weather.
A refined and timeless design, combining elegance, functionality and naturalness.

    Quality and manufacturing

Impeccable German quality, conforming to the demanding standards of sustainable fashion.
A coat designed to last, far removed from fleeting trends and fast fashion.

    Seasonal versatility

Suitable for all seasons thanks to the layering principle: the colder it is, the more layers of wool can be added underneath to adjust the thermal insulation as needed.

    Colors:

    Grey, Indigo, Olive, Beige

    Sizes and fit:

    XS - 34, S - 36, M - 38, M/L - 40, L - 42, XL - 44

    Warning: this model runs large.
The cut is generous (German sizing). If you are between sizes, definitely choose the smaller size.
For a more fitted look, it is possible to take up to two sizes smaller than your usual size.

Carefully compare the garment measurements with your own measurements.

Size information is shown in the photos.

In the photos, I am wearing size S for the grey and olive colours, over a very thick and voluminous wool dress.
I usually wear a size M or L in coats.
For this Disana model, my size is an S , but an XS would be perfect in a fitted cut.

This illustrates the fact that this coat runs very large and that the oversized cut is pronounced.

How to choose your size (oversized vs fitted)

This coat is designed with an oversized fit . This means that the garment's volume is intentionally larger than a classic coat to allow for layering wool garments underneath.

There are therefore two ways to wear it:

    • Definitely oversized style : take your usual size.
    • For a more fitted and structured style : take one to two sizes smaller than your usual size.

    Composition

    • Pure organic merino wool, sourced from a production guaranteed to be mulesing-free and respectful of animal welfare. The wool comes from Patagonia, where the climate makes this practice unnecessary.

    • The fibers are of very high quality, free of harmful substances at any stage of the manufacturing process, and free of microplastics. The dyes used are certified for natural fibers, and are kind to both skin and the environment.

    • Production is GOTS and IVN BEST certified by Ecocert Greenlife (license no. 151699), with short production circuits guaranteeing traceability, quality and environmental responsibility.

    Maintenance tips

Natural wool does not need frequent washing. Regular airing is often sufficient.

Local cleaning of stains under ambient water with Ulrich gall or genuine Marseille stain-removing soap.

    ○ Complete wash (rare, when really necessary):

    • Hand wash only. No machine wash, even on a "wool" or "delicate" program.
    • Cold or room temperature water
    • Essential rule: the same temperature for washing and rinsing
    • Eco-friendly liquid laundry detergent specially formulated for wool or enriched with lanolin

    ○ Drying
    • No tumble dryer
    • No radiators, electric heating, or direct sunlight
    • Drying flat
    • Reshape while drying - and return from time to time to reshape further while the garment is still wet

    ○ Lanolin Maintenance
    • For this wool, it is best to use Ulrich laundry detergent, which is already enriched with lanolin.
    • Do NOT soak or impregnate the wool. Boiled wool does not like to stay in water for long periods (a 15-minute hand wash is sufficient).
    • You can spray the lanolin diluted in water (for example, if you have some left over after bathing other woolen clothes)

    Manufacturing & Ecology

Since 1982, Disana has manufactured its products in Germany, maintaining a largely integrated production chain: knitting, garment making, and quality control are all carried out in its own workshops, ensuring complete traceability and minimizing transportation. This local production allows the company to preserve traditional textile expertise while ensuring consistent quality.

Merino wool comes from farms that prioritize animal welfare and are guaranteed mulesing-free. The fibers are selected for their natural properties—breathability, thermoregulation, and strength—and then processed using methods compatible with their structure to avoid unnecessary alterations. Dyes are chosen for their low environmental impact and compatibility with the fiber.

The textiles are GOTS and IVN BEST certified, two demanding standards that govern the organic origin of the materials, the absence of harmful substances, fair working conditions, and strict environmental criteria. The approach also includes waste reduction, the reuse of production scraps, product repairability, and the transmission of know-how.

The whole aims for the same objective: to create functional, durable and transmissible clothing, designed to accompany daily use for a long time rather than a short consumption cycle.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Is this coat warm?
By adding one or more layers of wool underneath, this coat can be worn in colder temperatures. Boiled wool is a dense and naturally insulating material. It effectively protects against the cold while remaining breathable, preventing overheating. This coat can be worn in winter as well as during the mid-seasons thanks to its thickness, which allows for layering wool underneath in very cold weather. This coat is unlined.

    • Is it windproof and water-repellent?
Boiled wool offers good natural resistance to wind thanks to its felted and compact structure.
It is also naturally water-repellent: the wool fiber repels light water (drizzle, humidity), without being totally waterproof like a coated synthetic fabric.

    • Is it a heavy coat?
Boiled wool is dense yet remains lightweight and comfortable to wear. Its weight contributes to the coat's drape and structure, without any feeling of stiffness. The coat weighs 1 kg.

    • Does wool make you itch?
The merino wool used by Disana is selected for its fineness and softness.
Most people find it very comfortable, even in direct contact with the skin.

    Yuliya's Tips

    • In very cold weather, wear a wool-silk layer, then a thick knitted pure wool layer underneath.

    • I discovered this brand in 2012, when I bought a small blanket (Original model in ecru, the brand's first product) for my baby, then a boiled wool jumpsuit.
The discoveries of this quality and perfect thermoregulation were a real game-changer: faced with the lack of these products in France, I started offering them in stores in 2013, actively contributing to the development and visibility of Disana on the French market ever since.

I also had the pleasure of visiting the brand's factory in Germany and meeting their teams on several occasions. Disana now holds no secrets for me, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for both children and adults.

    • I insist that these beauties should only be washed by hand (if necessary!) if you want them to last for many years while taking care of you.

    Disana

Disana was founded in 1982 in Germany, at a time when natural textiles were still a niche market. From the outset, the family business followed a simple conviction: healthy clothing begins with an undamaged fiber. Rather than following the trend of industrial textile production, the brand chose to preserve local expertise and produce garments designed to last.

Over the years, Disana has been one of the few European manufacturers to maintain a largely integrated production chain in Germany. Knitting, garment making, and quality control are all carried out in their own workshops. This choice allows them to control quality, minimize transportation, and preserve a true textile craft. Each piece is designed as a functional and timeless textile, intended to be a part of everyday life for years to come.

Merino wool comes from farms that prioritize animal welfare and are guaranteed mulesing-free. The fibers are selected for their natural properties—breathability, temperature regulation, and durability—and processed using methods compatible with the material to protect both skin and the environment. GOTS and IVN BEST certifications cover the entire supply chain: complete traceability, absence of harmful substances, and fair working conditions.

At Disana, sustainability goes beyond the product itself. Reusing textile scraps, repairing garments, and passing on know-how are integral to their approach. The pieces are designed to be worn for a long time, often passed down from child to child, based on the idea that a well-made garment can last for several lifetimes rather than just one season.
