Light warmth, natural softness and lasting comfort

This pure alpaca Esencia beanie offers remarkable thermal protection while remaining surprisingly light. Its soft ribbed knit hugs the head without compressing and creates a gentle, breathable warmth, suitable for everyday wear and cold temperatures.

Its beanie shape allows for several styling possibilities: short or elongated.

A fiber shaped by the Andes

  • 100% alpaca
  • dry and stable warmth
  • very breathable
  • soft feeling without heaviness
  • low odor retention

Alpacas live on the Andean plateaus, where temperatures can range from -25°C at night to +18°C during the day!
Their fiber has naturally adapted to these extreme variations: it insulates from the cold while wicking away excessive heat.

You stay warm without sweating, and without feeling damp.

Everyday comfort

  • Stretch ribbed knit
  • Good hold without tightening
  • Easy-to-wear unisex cut
  • Lightweight and compact in a pocket or bag

A simple but technically very effective beanie, designed to accompany you through all cold seasons.

Human-scale manufacturing

Each piece is knitted in Bolivia on small artisanal machines, perpetuating know-how passed down from generation to generation.
This production method allows for a regular, durable knit, made at a human pace, far from industrial production.

"Maison de MaMoulia's Favorite"

  • easy to wear and combine

  • and it's a very beautiful product!

It is a true discovery that joins my personal wardrobe selection, a garment designed to be worn, loved and kept for a long time.

Maintenance tips

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed frequently.
Wool has a natural self-care ability.

‱ Routine maintenance (recommended)

- Regular ventilation in the open air (ideally outside, or in front of an open window).

- Rest after each use: hang the garment on a hanger or drying rack, do not leave it in a ball in order to preserve the fiber and its shape.

- Local cleaning of stains under water at room temperature with Ulrich ox gall stain-removing soap or genuine Marseille soap.

‱ Complete wash (very rare)

- A complete wash should remain exceptional.

- Hand wash only!

- Cold water or water at room temperature.

- Ulrich NatĂŒrlich special wool liquid detergent.

- No lanolin treatment for alpacas

-Wash temperature = rinse temperature (avoid any thermal shock).

- Do not wring, wrap in a towel to absorb.

- Dry flat, away from the sun and any source of heat.

Manufacturing & Ecology

At Esencia, production is not industrial but artisanal.
The garments are made in Bolivia by families working on small-scale knitting machines in local workshops or at home. This method of production allows for a humane and consistent pace of work, far removed from mass production lines.

The brand maintains a direct collaboration with its knitters: stable pay, continuous orders, and attention to working conditions. The objective is as much social as it is textile-related – to preserve a thriving craft and local autonomy.

The fibers used – alpaca and baby llama – come from the Andean regions where these animals naturally live. They are known for their excellent thermal insulation, lightness, and durability, while requiring few resources to produce.

Esencia

Before being a winter accessory, an Esencia piece begins far from shop windows and seasons.

In Denmark, since 2004 the brand has been designing simple clothes, made to be worn for a long time - understated shapes, without fashion trends, designed to accompany everyday life rather than follow it.

Then the project travels to La Paz, Bolivia. There, knitting isn't a rediscovered technique; it's a skill passed down through generations. The pieces are made in small family workshops, on human-scale machines, far removed from continuous industrial production lines. The rhythm remains that of the hand and the eye: checking the stitch, adjusting the tension, starting again if necessary. Nothing is automated to the point of becoming impersonal.

Each garment is born from a subtle dialogue: clean Scandinavian design on one side, Andean textile tradition on the other. Not an anonymous production, but a meticulous manufacturing process, where we still know who knits and how.

The material itself tells the story of this connection. Alpaca comes from high plateaus where temperature variations are extreme: dry cold in the morning, intense sun during the day, and frost at night. Its fiber has developed to manage these variations—retaining heat without trapping moisture, protecting without suffocating.

Wearing Esencia is therefore not just about wearing a warm and breathable knit.

It's about wearing an object that took time: time to design, time to knit, time to do it right rather than quickly.
