Lightweight, breathable, and naturally warm

The Petal sweater from Ivahoe is a classic round-neck model made from completely untreated and undyed virgin wool.
Its color comes directly from the fiber, without any dyeing or chemical processing.

Its light structured knit allows air to circulate while retaining the natural warmth of the wool, making it comfortable both indoors and in mild outdoor conditions.

A simple and versatile everyday sweater.

NLS Range:

This piece belongs to Ivanhoe's NLS (Non-treated, Non-dyed wool) range:
a line based on materials chosen to limit fiber processing and reduce overall impact.

Raw and intact wool

  • 100% virgin wool
  • untreated wool
  • undyed wool
  • natural fiber shade
  • possible variations between batches

  • progressive warmth without overheating
  • comfortable round neck
  • ribbed cuffs and hem
  • discreet logo on the sleeve

Its construction allows for extended wear without thermal discomfort.

"Maison de MaMoulia's Favorite"

This product is one of my favorite discoveries made in Germany during my meeting with the Ivanhoe brand.

It has been carefully selected not only for the quality of its natural wool, but also to meet essential expectations:

  • softness on the skin
  • natural warmth
  • modern and timeless design
  • easy to wear and combine
  • durability for many years
  • and it's a very beautiful product!

It's a real discovery that joins my personal wardrobe selection, a garment designed to be worn, loved, and kept for a long time.

Size Guide:

Ivanhoe sizes are expressed in international sizes, they size like French sizes. Choose your usual size.

About the sizing of wool garments

True untreated wool retains its natural structure.
Unlike fibers stabilized by polymers, it remains supple and alive: the fiber can stretch naturally (up to about +30%) and then return to its shape, without permanent deformation.

Therefore, an untreated wool garment never remains completely fixed to a strict textile pattern.
It adapts to the body, movements, and ambient humidity: the material works, breathes, and conforms to the body shape.

Consequently, sizing does not correspond to a closed category.
The main difference between two sizes is mainly in length (sleeves, total height), while the ease in width remains adaptable.

Thus, for example, a size 44 can also fit a 46 - and depending on the models, sometimes even a 48 - without compromising comfort.

Maintenance tips

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed frequently.
Wool has a natural self-maintenance capacity thanks to its fibrous structure, keratin and lanolin.

‱ Routine maintenance (recommended)

- Regular ventilation in the open air (ideally outside, or in front of an open window).

- Rest after each use: hang the garment on a hanger or drying rack, do not leave it in a ball in order to preserve the fiber and its shape.

- Local cleaning of stains under water at room temperature with Ulrich ox gall stain-removing soap or genuine Marseille soap.

‱ Complete wash (very rare)

- A complete wash should remain exceptional.

- Hand wash only!

- Cold water or water at room temperature.

- Ulrich NatĂŒrlich special liquid wool detergent, ideally the version already enriched with lanolin to limit contact time with water and avoid the need for a separate treatment bath. Boiled wool will not tolerate being left in water for a treatment bath.

-Wash temperature = rinse temperature (avoid any thermal shock).

- Do not wring, wrap in a towel to absorb.

- Dry flat, away from the sun and any source of heat.

‱ If you choose to machine wash (always at your own risk):

To be avoided as much as possible.

- “Hand wash” or “Wool” program configured as follows:

-20 °C

- without spin or 400 rpm maximum

- short cycle (40 minutes maximum)
If your machine does not allow these settings, do not use the machine wash function.

Untreated wool naturally felts under the combined effect of heat, water, and friction. These precautions aim to preserve the fiber's intact structure and natural properties.

Manufacturing & Ecology

Ivanhoe manufactures primarily in Sweden and Europe. Approximately 90% of the knitting is done in its own workshop in GĂ€llstad, which also houses the design, prototypes, embroidery, and some of the sewing. The remaining garment making is handled by selected partners located mainly in Estonia, Lithuania, and Poland.
This geographical proximity allows for:
‱ direct control of manufacturing,
‱ short deadlines,
‱ Production adjusted to demand,
‱ and a reduction in the environmental impact related to transport.
The sustainable approach also relies on the full utilization of resources: the Maison collection is made from surplus production materials (yarns, buttons, knits), repurposed into new objects. The stated objective is to maximize the use of materials and minimize waste.
For Ivanhoe, sustainability depends not only on the fiber used, but also on the place of manufacture, the partners chosen, and the distances traveled by the garments.

Frequently Asked Questions

‱ Is it warm despite its lightness?
Yes, wool retains heat while remaining breathable.

‱ How long can this garment be worn without washing?
This garment can be worn for one or more years without washing, with simple airing.

Yuliya's Tips

‱ Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the wool may need to be cleaned.

‱ I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich NatĂŒrlich laundry detergent enriched with lanolin is highly recommended.

Ivanhoe

Ivanhoe's story begins in 1946 in GÀllstad, a small village considered the cradle of Swedish textiles. Europe was emerging from the war, resources were limited, but Martin Göthager nevertheless decided to create his knitting workshop.

To buy his first machines, he took a major risk: he mortgaged his house. The machines were installed upstairs, while his wife Ragnhild sewed the clothes. Their home became simultaneously a family home and a production workshop—a business built literally from the living room.

The first garments were sold under the name GĂ€llstads Ylle , with a strict constraint: to create pieces adapted to the available yarns, while remaining fashionable. The founder's technical expertise and business acumen enabled the company to weather this period of scarcity.

When the brand later shifted its focus to sportswear, it adopted the name Ivanhoe, chosen for its more international appeal. In the 1970s and 1980s, ski sweaters became iconic and permanently shaped the brand's identity.

The company was then run by the founder's three sons for nearly forty years, before being taken over today by the third generation – Anders, Anna, and Karin. Despite the evolution of the collections and their uses, one principle has remained unchanged since the beginning: working with wool and natural materials to create functional, durable clothing designed to accompany both everyday life and outdoor activities.

More than 75 years after its creation, a large part of the knitwear is still produced in the historic factory in GĂ€llstad, maintaining the direct link between place, know-how and finished product.
