Natural lamb or sheepskin – Kaiser's Relugan Tanning Rectangular

Natural thermoregulation | Comfort | Safety | Multi-purpose

Your child...

  • sweats in their bed and wakes up due to dampness?
  • falls asleep in your arms but wakes up immediately in a cold bed?
  • sometimes sleeps elsewhere (travel, holidays, at family's) and struggles to settle in an unfamiliar bed?
  • uses a floor bed (Montessori style) and you want a natural, breathable, and safe support?
  • still has leaks or potty accidents and you're tired of changing sheets in the middle of the night?
  • plays on the floor and you're looking for a natural, thick rug, warm in winter, breathable in summer?
  • and you dream of a portable rug, usable both in bed and as a play mat?

And you too, would you dream of enjoying this thermoregulating comfort all year round - without investing in a large sheepskin rug?

Kaiser's lambskin - Relugan tanned is the answer to all these situations.

Why this sheepskin?

‱ Unmatched comfort in bed

Ideal for baby/child's bed, co-sleeping, or a floor bed.
Nothing like classic sheets: the fiber naturally regulates temperature and keeps the child dry.

‱ A useful birth gift for years

The lambskin follows the child:
bed => holiday bed => play corner => decor on the armchair later
It becomes a true comforting companion thanks to the parents' scent.

‱ Relugan tanning (medical, chrome-free)

Golden color obtained solely by the tanning process, not by dyeing.
Soft, safe, very low environmental impact.

Technical specifications

  • Dimensions: 60×120 cm or 70x140 cm
  • Short pile: ~30 mm
  • Patchwork (carefully assembled pieces, practical, durable, economical)
  • Natural golden color from the Relugan process (untreated)

The unique advantages of lambskin

‱ Natural thermoregulation
  • Warm in winter
  • Cool in summer
  • Continuously regulates temperature
‱ Optimal moisture management

Absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet.

‱ Naturally antibacterial

Wool has a surface with a very acidic pH: an unfavorable environment for the development of bacteria and viruses.

‱ Emotional security
  • Impregnated with parents' scent => calm baby
  • Impregnated with the child's scent => a sensory "comforter"
‱ A universal solution
  • baby/child/teen bed
  • play mat
  • Montessori floor mat
  • travel
  • interior decoration later
  • Place the 70x140 cm skin lengthwise in your adult (or teen) bed, without placing it under the pillow - you will get a comfortable thermoregulating sleeping surface without necessarily investing in a very large size

There's no age limit to start sleeping on lambskin!

German Kaiser quality: traceability, ethics and transparency.

Composition

Never place on a radiator or in direct sunlight.

Frequently Asked Questions

‱ From what age can a lambskin be used?
From birth. Relugan tanning (known as “medical”, chrome-free) is designed for baby/child use and complies with European safety standards.

‱ Doesn't the skin get too hot in summer?
No.
Wool naturally regulates temperature: it stays cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold. This is one of its major advantages over synthetic coverings.

‱ Can it be used directly in a baby bed without a sheet over it?
Yes.
To fully benefit from the thermoregulating and self-cleaning properties of wool, it is best to use the sheepskin without a sheet over it. The short pile (30 mm) of the Relugan tanned sheepskin is designed for direct and safe contact, while allowing air to circulate and moisture to be regulated naturally.

‱ Is the skin suitable for people with allergies?
Yes.
You can't be allergic to wool. On the contrary: sleeping on natural skin strengthens the immune system and reduces the risk of allergies, because it doesn't offer an artificially "sterile" environment.

‱ How to manage urine leaks?
There is no need to wash the skin. Airing it out is sufficient: Relugan skins do not retain odor or residual moisture thanks to natural lanolin.

‱ Do I need to wash my skin before first use?
Absolutely not. A natural sheep smell is normal at first. Just let it air out for a few days. The first wash always weakens the leather: it should be reserved for exceptional circumstances.

‱ Can you machine wash the skin?
No,
This is still not recommended. Hand washing is strongly advised, and only if absolutely necessary (exceptional cases: vomiting, gastroenteritis, significant soiling).
Drying must be done strictly flat, without twisting, without mechanical wringing, without radiator or direct sunlight.

‱ Does the skin lose its hair?
Like our hair, yes. But also – a light down may appear at first, that's normal. Regular brushing removes this excess and stabilizes the coat.

‱ Can it also be used for adults?
Yes,
Widely used. It improves thermal comfort, absorbs moisture, and promotes sleep. Many adults use it in the car, on their office chair, or directly on the bed.

Yuliya's Tips

‱ Avoid buying long-haired and Mimosa skins (white, non-washable) for babies
‱ Upon receipt: do not wash it! The natural odor is normal => air it out for a few days
‱ Before using it with your baby: sleep on it for 2–3 nights to transfer your scent

"I discovered lambskin in 2009 when I saw a mother using it in 30°C weather in a stroller.
I thought to myself, "She's crazy"... while my baby was sweating in hers.
In the end, it was my second child who had the chance to benefit from it from the beginning.
My eldest son, on the other hand, lost 4 years of comfort because of my prejudices.

Since 2012, Kaiser hides have been everywhere in our home: beds, armchairs, car, travel »

Kaiser

In the Westerwald region of Germany, far removed from standardized production, KAISER has built itself as a family business where the raw material dictates the manufacturing process. Here, leather is not treated as a mere industrial material, but as a natural material whose properties must be preserved.

Passed down through two generations, the brand specializes in the respectful processing of natural lambskins. The goal has never been to accelerate production, but rather to preserve the inherent qualities of the material: softness, temperature regulation, and comfort against the skin. The majority of the products are still made locally, in order to maintain control over the production process and the traditional expertise.

Medical-grade leathers are inspected annually by TÜV Rheinland and certified OEKO-TEX¼ LEATHER STANDARD 100 Class I. They are guaranteed to be free of chrome tanning, a crucial technical choice to ensure safe use from birth. This requirement encompasses not only compliance but also durability: a product that can last for a long time without compromising safety or well-being.

At KAISER, manufacturing is based on a simple balance: traditional craftsmanship, respect for animals, and environmental responsibility. The final product is not conceived as a seasonal accessory, but as a durable comfort item, designed to withstand years and repeated use.
