You are looking for:

  • A "second skin" effect undergarment, discreet, enveloping and comfortable under all your clothes (wool, cotton, synthetic), with a naturally silky feel directly against the skin?
  • A multifunctional top for all year round, for everyday wear, sleeping, or as a thermal layer?
  • A garment suitable for very sensitive skin, with naturally breathable and antibacterial properties?

Description

Women's tank top with wide straps in organic merino wool and silk , from the German eco-friendly brand Cosilana.

This is the garment to have as an essential first layer , the one that directly influences the overall thermoregulation of the body.

This precious layer, made of untreated natural fibers, keeps the skin dry. The air thus dried can then be warmed by our own body heat and retained by the pure wool intermediate layer worn over it.

The first layer is the most important. It is in direct contact with the skin and governs the body's entire thermoregulation. It must be natural!

Its role is not to "heat up", but to:

  • absorb moisture (perspiration),
  • keep the skin dry.
  • create a thin layer of dry air around the body.

Untreated wool (or wool-silk) is particularly effective for this function, unlike synthetic fibers which retain moisture against the skin.

An extremely soft, thin, and warm top, designed to be worn directly against the skin. Ideal as thermal underwear in winter, but also as a light top or sleepwear.

The wool and silk blend combines:

  • the thermoregulatory and breathable properties of wool,
  • the softness and silky feel of silk, particularly pleasant on the skin.

Wool is naturally resistant to odors and dirt thanks to lanolin, while silk provides a smooth and protective feel, comparable to a textile cocoon.

Strengths

  • Suitable for sensitive and reactive skin, often appreciated in cases of skin irritations.
  • Excellent thermoregulation: warm when it's cold, breathable when it's mild.
  • Ideal as a base layer, pajamas or for winter travel.
  • Can be worn alone or under other clothing.

Color :

Ecru or Black

Available sizes:

36/38 - 40/42 - 44/46 - 48/50

Flat measurements (indicative)

Please note: measurements are approximate and may vary by 1 to 2 cm. Natural materials are elastic and react to humidity, which may slightly affect the dimensions.

It is therefore impossible to guarantee perfectly identical measurements from one item to another, regardless of the brand, when working with natural textile fibers.

036/038 040/042 044/046 048/050
Total height, cm 63 67 72 75
Width, cm 32 33 35 37

In the photos of the long-sleeved black t-shirt , I've intentionally included all sizes, up to 48/50 (see details in the photos), to show you how it fits, especially in terms of length. This applies to all Cosilana women's tops.
These garments always remain enveloping: this is the principle of a "second skin". They are not designed to be loose, even in larger sizes.

For everyday wear, under my clothes, I wear Cosilana in size 36/38 (I'm 1.77 m tall and wear a 38/M), to prevent the sleeves from showing under the sleeves of the clothes I wear over them. As a nightgown, I wear size 48/50 for a looser, more enveloping fit.

In the photos in ecru, it's a size 36 for a 175 cm woman, and also for a size 36/S.

Composition

Merino wool 70% / silk 30%

Cosilana clothing is made exclusively from high-quality natural fibers. The brand uses merino wool, fine silk, and organic cotton, as well as blends of these natural fibers, selected for their softness, breathability, and comfort against the skin.

These materials come from controlled organic farming and livestock breeding, without chemical pesticides or synthetic additives.

Conseils d'entretien

Untreated wool/silk garments do not need to be washed after each use.

‱ Routine maintenance

Regular ventilation in the open air (outdoors if possible, or in front of an open window)
Rest after each use: hang on a hanger or drying rack and do not leave crumpled up)
Spot clean stains under running water with Ulrich gall soap or genuine Marseille soap

‱ Complete wash (when the time comes)

Hand wash only.
Cold or room temperature water
Liquid laundry detergent for wool Ulrich NatĂŒrlich
Washing temperature = rinsing temperature
No spin cycle
Dry flat, away from sunlight and any heat source

‱ Lanolin Maintenance

Use a treatment (every 2-3 washes) occasionally to maintain self-cleaning and thermoregulating properties. Follow the instructions on the product information sheets.

Fabrication & Écologie

Cosilana is proud to be one of the few remaining brands that have not used any treatment for over 50 years, to preserve the properties intact!

Cosilana uses exclusively natural fibers from controlled organic farming and livestock operations, without pesticides or chemical additives. The wool comes primarily from selected farms in Patagonia and meets the requirements of organic agriculture.

Production takes place in Hechingen (Germany), with regional manufacturing allowing continuous traceability and reduced transport.

The yarns used are certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which audits the entire textile chain—raw materials, processing, environmental and social aspects—through independent organizations. The brand also stems from the IVN initiative, a long-established natural textile organization.

This approach is based on a constant principle: respect for the environment and for people, with clothing designed to last while preserving the natural properties of the fiber.

Questions fréquentes

‱ Is it hot?
Merino wool is an excellent thermoregulator: it retains heat when it is cold and remains breathable when the temperature rises.
Wool (or a wool-silk blend) doesn't "heat" itself. It absorbs moisture and keeps the skin dry, allowing body heat to then warm this dry air. This warmth will then be better retained by a possible layer of pure wool worn over it.
Therefore, it is not a material that produces heat, but a fiber capable of capturing air, keeping it dry, and then allowing it to be warmed by our own body around the skin, thus creating natural thermal insulation.

‱ Can this tank top be worn on its own?
Yes. It can be worn alone as a light top or undergarment. Its fine, comfortable knit makes it versatile: under an outfit in winter or as a soft top indoors.

‱ Is it transparent?
The wool-silk knit is fine. In ecru, a slight transparency is possible depending on the light and skin tone; this is less pronounced in black. For outdoor use, it can be worn with a bra or under another layer. The photos give a good idea of the fabric's transparency in both colors.

‱ Can it be worn for a long time without washing, like pure wool?
No, a little less time, but it's very personal. Wool is naturally breathable and limits odors, which allows you to wash it less often.
The presence of silk doesn't negate this property; it's also a thermoregulating material. However, it's recommended to air the garment between wears to prolong its freshness and lifespan. For example, at my house, Cosilana can only be worn about ten times with intermediate airing (which is already incredible!), unlike pure wool—which can be worn dozens of times or more, depending on the garment.

‱ Can you sleep in this tank top?
Yes.
Its fine, breathable knit makes it suitable as loungewear or pajamas. It is exceptionally helpful and invaluable in case of fever, for sleeping in.

‱ Does wool make you itch?
The combination of fine merino wool and organic silk is renowned for its softness. The silk provides a smooth feel directly against the skin, making this tank top generally very well tolerated by sensitive skin.
However, since skin sensitivity is individual, perception may vary from person to person.

‱ Is it suitable for sensitive skin (eczema, reactive skin)?
Absolutely!
Fine wool and silk are breathable natural fibers, often appreciated by sensitive skin, with improvements noted by my clients.
This product is not a medical device, but it is designed to be worn directly on the skin with maximum comfort.

‱ Can it be machine washed?
No Cosilana wool-silk garment is recommended for machine washing, even on a cold cycle and at 400 rpm (trust my years of experience with this fabric). Even if shrinkage or thickening isn't necessarily and always visible after the first wash, it will gradually appear with each machine wash, accompanied by small holes.
A quick hand wash is simple and accessible to everyone, and helps to preserve this garment so that it continues to take care of your skin and its natural properties in the long term.

Conseils de Yuliya

‱ If in doubt between 2 sizes, go for the larger one, it will never be too big.

‱ This product is one of my absolute favorites and I highly recommend it! It's an essential base layer that will influence all your other layers of clothing, and your mood too.

‱ Invaluable if you sleep on synthetic bedding (especially in hotels, Airbnbs, etc.)

‱ If you have favorites made of synthetic or treated wool - this first layer made of natural and thermoregulating material can improve your comfort!

‱ Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the garment may need to be deep cleaned.

‱ I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich NatĂŒrlich products (laundry detergent, treatment, stain-removing soap) are highly recommended.
