Why merino wool for everyday use?

Merino wool naturally helps the body maintain a comfortable temperature: neither too hot, nor too cold.
It absorbs moisture while remaining pleasant to the touch, which avoids the typical discomfort of clothing that retains moisture against the skin.

And since wool is naturally odor-resistant, it often allows you to reduce washing: simple airing is often enough.

Essential first layer

The wool t-shirt is the essential first layer: the one in direct contact with the skin, which directly influences the body's thermal balance and conditions its entire thermoregulation. It must therefore be natural and breathable.

It helps keep the skin dry. Moisture is absorbed by the wool, while the thus dried air can be warmed by body heat and retained by the next layer, for example a knit or thicker wool.

Ideal for everyday wear, sports and travel

  • Light and compact, replaces several thick layers
  • Excellent for winter and mid-season sports thanks to its thermoregulating properties
  • Perfect for a minimalist wardrobe and travel
  • Requires less washing than a classic garment

Highlights

  • Versatile basic garment: to wear alone or as a thermal layer

This t-shirt is designed to be fitted and worn close to the body.
Take your measurements and compare them with the size chart.

  • For a man: choose one size up for a looser fit.
  • For a woman or a teenager: choose one size down for a more fitted look.

Please note: measurements are indicative and may vary by 1 to 2 cm from one item to another. Natural materials are elastic and living, so dimensions can also change depending on conditions, especially ambient humidity. It is therefore impossible to provide perfectly fixed measurements, regardless of the brand of living wool clothing.

Manufacturing & Ecology

ManyMonths / MaM / MaD clothing is manufactured for the Finnish brand Babyidea by EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers and GOTS certified since 2008 – still a rarity in China and elsewhere. Production adheres to ILO social standards (voluntary work, prohibition of child labor, fair wages, safety, and regulated working hours), and each component is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, making it suitable for contact with babies' skin.

The dyes are produced by certified workshops and tested by independent laboratories. This partner was chosen based on verifiable criteria: technical expertise, traceability, and social guarantees. The goal is transparent and sustainable manufacturing, prioritizing responsible production practices over mere geographical proximity.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Is it a t-shirt or thermal underwear?
It's a versatile t-shirt. It can be worn:
as a classic t-shirt,
as a thermal layer under a sweater or jacket,
as thermoregulating underwear in winter

• Is it suitable for sports or winter activities?
Yes.
It can be used as a breathable thermal layer for winter sports or activities in cool weather, as a natural technical base layer.

• Can you sleep in this t-shirt?
Yes.
Its fine, breathable knit makes it suitable as loungewear or pajamas. This t-shirt is exceptionally helpful and valuable in case of fever, to sleep in.

• Is the wool scratchy?
No.
The fine knit is soft, often compared to cotton to the touch.

• Can it be machine washed?
You can - if you wish - wash this wool in the machine at less than 30°C, on a short cycle, with a maximum spin of 400 rpm or no spin if possible, and a special wool detergent, without adding fabric softener. However, machine washing is always at your own risk. Hand washing is highly recommended to preserve the untreated fiber.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
Dozens of times depending on use, with simple airing.

• Is it warm?
It thermoregulates: warm when it's cold, breathable when it's warm. An additional first layer of wool or wool-silk is possible in sub-zero temperatures.

• Does the wool stretch?
Yes, slightly with use, but it regains its shape after resting.

• Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, merino wool is finer than a human hair. By maintaining its lanolin that moisturizes it, you will have a very pleasant garment to wear.

Yuliya's Tips

• If in doubt between 2 sizes, go for the larger one; it will never be too big. To wear this garment as a base layer, choose your usual size for a snug fit.

• I inherited the size S from my child when it became too small for him. I wear it with leggings as a comfortable outfit at home, as this T-shirt is longer than the women's model in the same size.

• This T-shirt can be worn as a double layer with an identical T-shirt or a larger size in very cold weather.

• Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog reusable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, a deep cleaning of the wool may be necessary.

• Hand wash, please!

This simple gesture – and rarely necessary – helps preserve the garment's good shape and size over time.
Gentle care also helps maintain a very high quality of the product, which can be a real advantage if you ever wish to resell it.

ManyMonths garments are easily passed down from family to family, and their second-hand value often remains very attractive.
Well-maintained, used for a very long time – then resold, this garment can thus become one of the most economical pieces in your child's wardrobe.

Babyidea / ManyMonths / MaM

The Babyidea story begins in Finland, in the Helsinki region, as a Scandinavian family business guided by a simple idea: to design products that are truly useful in everyday life and consistent with natural parenting.

MaM® Design's beginnings date back to 2001, during Bettina's maternity leave; she was then a university lecturer. At that time, physiological babywearing was virtually unknown in Europe, and suitable clothing was practically nonexistent. The first creations were therefore born from a concrete need: to make life with a baby easier, without compromising on comfort or materials.
ManyMonths clothes that grow with the child - are born.

The brand has grown alongside its children: from a few boxes stacked in a bedroom serving as a makeshift workshop to a 500 m² logistics space near Helsinki, and then to a network of distributors and boutiques across Europe. Despite this evolution, the objective remains unchanged: to develop sustainable, practical, and respectful solutions in partnership with companies that share the same values.

Following this principle, the manufacturing of ManyMonths, MaM, and MaD clothing was not based on geographical criteria but on technical and human factors. The choice fell on EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers that has been operating for nearly twenty years with high standards of traceability and social responsibility. GOTS certified since 2008—a still rare certification—the manufacturer also adheres to the ILO's international labor standards. Each component is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, and the dyes are tested by independent laboratories.

This partnership reflects the brand's philosophy: prioritizing expertise, transparency, and verifiable guarantees over superficial proximity. The objective remains the same as from the outset: to create clothing designed to last, safe for children, and consistent with a more responsible lifestyle, from design in Finland to manufacturing.

The MaM / MaD collection for adults was born in 2017 to meet the growing demand from parents to finally be able to wear the same wool as their children in ManyMonths.

*******

My business began with the purchase of a simple ManyMonths pure wool bodysuit in 2012. That's when I truly discovered what wool could be like in everyday life. Then, as I outfitted my children with the entire collection, another realization dawned: I wanted to talk about it, explain it, and share it with the world!

That's how my shop was born. This brand was the direct origin of my business, and over the years I have also been very actively involved in its development in France, while influencing certain product developments thanks to feedback from the field.

It all started thanks to Bettina. I will always be grateful to her for these clothes that have accompanied my children - and me - throughout all these years.
