Living Wool™ - Living Wool is an internal expertise concept-label developed by Maison de MaMoulia to identify products whose wool fiber is preserved as close as possible to its natural state, in the absence of industrial anti-felting treatments.

Untreated wool - an authentic and living fiber

This garment is made from untreated merino wool , without any industrial anti-felting treatment (such as Superwash, enzymes, Naturetexx®, polymer coatings, silicones or other similar processes).

The fiber thus retains its intact natural structure , responsible for its unique properties , as well as its natural lanolin.
This is what we call authentic and living wool.

Unlike wools treated to remove scales, artificially soften the fiber, and withstand machine washing, this wool naturally retains:

  • its thermoregulation (neither too hot nor too cold)
  • its ability to absorb moisture while remaining dry to the touch
  • its natural antibacterial properties
  • its resistance to odors and dirt
  • its natural elasticity (the garment returns to its shape when at rest)
  • its self-maintenance capacity through simple aeration

It is this intact fiber that allows for reduced washing, lasting, healthy and ecological comfort, and the preservation of a garment designed to last over time.

The natural benefits of merino wool

  • Naturally breathable, wool allows moisture to evaporate.
  • Warm but never stifling, suitable for all year round
  • Regulates temperature and creates a microclimate around the body
  • Resistant to odors and stains, therefore less frequent washing is required.
  • Antibacterial thanks to the pH of untreated wool
  • Elastic, returns to its shape after use (knees, buttocks, fabric stretching)
  • Soft and comfortable against the skin
  • Flame-retardant and UV-protective
  • Antistatic
  • 100% natural, recyclable and – truly – biodegradable
Composition

• Pure natural merino wool 380 g/m²
• Certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1
• Without Superwash treatment or any other treatment
• Wool from a guaranteed non-mulesing production (yarn made exclusively for Babyidea)

Conseils d'entretien

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed often.

• Routine maintenance

Regular ventilation in the open air (outdoors if possible, or in front of an open window)
Rest after each use: hang on a hanger or drying rack and do not leave crumpled up)
Spot clean stains under running water with Ulrich gall soap or genuine Marseille soap

• Complete wash (rare)

Hand washing is strongly recommended despite the "Machine washable" label.
Cold or room temperature water
Liquid laundry detergent for wool Ulrich Natürlich
Washing temperature = rinsing temperature

• Lanolin Maintenance

Occasionally, treat the fabric (every 2-3 washes) or apply a lanolin treatment (every 3-4 washes) to maintain its self-cleaning and thermoregulating properties. Follow the instructions on the product information sheets.

Fabrication & Écologie

ManyMonths/MaM/MaD clothing is manufactured in China by Babyidea's partner, EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a manufacturer specializing in natural fibers and committed to responsible textile production for many years. This reflects a strong commitment to style, comfort, and a responsible approach to fashion.

In 2008, EcoTextile obtained GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification for the processing and marketing of organic textiles, making it one of the few GOTS-certified garment factories in China. This level of certification remains relatively uncommon, even globally, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to sustainability and traceability.

The manufacturer complies with international labor standards defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO), including:

• voluntary employment and the absence of forced labor,
• the right to collective bargaining,
• the prohibition of child labor,
• non-discrimination,
• health and safety measures,
• fair wages,
• regulated working hours.

EcoTextile benefits from a management team rooted in Europe and nearly 20 years of experience in manufacturing clothing from natural fibers. Their expertise combines a traditional textile craft with a deep understanding of modern requirements for sustainability and social responsibility.

The priority is to offer clothing made with awareness, respect for workers, the environment and the health of users, in a sustainable and transparent slow fashion approach.

The production is also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, ensuring that every component of the garment is free from harmful substances and safe for the skin, including that of babies.

For dyes, EcoTextile collaborates exclusively with certified workshops guaranteeing the absence of hazardous substances, with rigorous tests carried out by independent laboratories (SGS).

Babyidea has chosen to prioritize ethics, technical competence and verifiable certifications, rather than just geographical location.
Production carried out in a specialized, certified and experienced workshop, even in China, can be more responsible than local production in Europe without technical infrastructure, certification and real social guarantees.

Questions fréquentes

• Is it suitable for running or moving around?
Yes
Suitable for gentle activities (walking, yoga, everyday wear). But these are not technical pants for intensive sports.

• Does wool make you itch?
No.
The fine knit is soft, often compared to cotton in feel.

• Can it be machine washed?
You can, if you wish, machine wash this wool at less than 30°C, on a short cycle, with a maximum spin speed of 400 rpm or no spin if possible, using a special wool detergent and no fabric softener. However, machine washing is always at your own risk. Hand washing is strongly recommended to preserve the untreated fibers.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
Dozens of times depending on usage, with simple ventilation.

• Is it hot?
It's thermoregulating: warm when it's cold, breathable when it's warm. Adding a base layer of wool or a wool-silk blend is possible in sub-zero temperatures.

• Does wool stretch?
Yes, slightly so with use, but it regains its shape after resting.

• Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, merino wool is finer than a human hair. By maintaining its lanolin, which moisturizes it, you'll have a very comfortable garment to wear.

• Is this an environmentally friendly product?
Yes. Natural fiber, truly biodegradable, durable, certified and ethically produced.

Conseils de Yuliya

• Sizing advice (for reference only): I wear a size L/XL daily (for a longer look at my 177 cm height), although I usually wear S/M at Babyidea. I have 3 pairs of joggers since they were released in 2023.

• The wool is stretchy and enveloping. The L/XL size can fit various body types, particularly around size 46. Some customer reviews mention it can be worn up to size 48, depending on comfort preference.

• This product is one of my must-have favorites that I highly recommend.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich products (laundry detergent, treatment, impregnation, stain-removing soap) are highly recommended.

Babyidea / ManyMonths / MaM
