- Are you looking for a versatile garment that is both:

  • an everyday light t-shirt or sweater,
  • a thermoregulating layer in winter,
  • a base layer for winter sports,
  • a comfortable garment for home or sleeping?

- Has your teenager outgrown ManyMonths expandable sizes and you want to continue to benefit from the properties of wool?
- Do you want to travel light without multiplying bulky clothes?
- Are you looking to reduce washing frequency and prefer a natural, healthy and breathable material?

The MaM Merino Wool T-shirt is an essential basic, designed to accompany all seasons.

The MaM long-sleeved T-shirt is made of pure merino wool and designed by MaM Babyidea.
It follows in the tradition of ManyMonths expandable clothing, offering natural comfort, great versatility, and natural thermal regulation.

Why merino wool for everyday wear?

Merino wool naturally helps the body maintain a comfortable temperature: neither too hot, nor too cold.
It absorbs moisture while remaining pleasant to the touch, avoiding the typical discomfort of clothing that retains moisture against the skin.

And because wool is naturally odor-resistant, it often allows for reduced washing: simple airing is frequently sufficient.

Essential First Layer

The wool t-shirt is the essential first layer: the one in direct contact with the skin, which directly influences the body's thermal balance and conditions its entire thermoregulation. It must therefore be natural and breathable.

It helps keep the skin dry. Moisture is absorbed by the wool, while the dried air can then be warmed by body heat and retained by the next layer, such as a knit or thicker wool.

Key Features:

  • Versatile basic garment: to wear alone or as a thermal base layer.
  • Natural thermoregulation: helps maintain a comfortable body temperature in cold or mild weather.
  • Ribbed knit: provides a comfortable fit and good elasticity.
  • Naturally breathable: allows moisture to wick away and limits the feeling of dampness on the skin.
  • Natural odor control: useful for extended wear, especially for teenagers (airing is often enough).
  • Natural elasticity: wool returns to its shape after use (elbows, stretching) with proper rest.
  • Ideal for travel: lightweight, compact, and requires less washing than synthetic or cotton clothing.
  • Suitable for winter sports and mid-season: as a breathable thermal layer.
  • Can be worn directly on the skin or over a wool/silk layer.
  • Suitable as loungewear or pajamas.
  • Long sleeves that can be rolled up to adjust length.
  • Soft seams for optimal comfort against the skin.
  • The fine knit is lightweight, soft to the touch, and non-itchy.
  • The stretch knit allows for unrestricted movement.

Please note: measurements are indicative and may vary by 1 to 2 cm from one item to another. It is therefore impossible to provide perfectly fixed measurements, regardless of the brand of living wool clothing.

Length, cm 60 62 64 66
Width, cm 33 35 36 38
Sleeves, cm 60 62 64 66

In the photos:

To help you visualize the fit for different sizes, I'm showing you photos from the previous collection on my physique (177 cm, usually size M/38).
You'll notice that all sizes remain well-fitted, with the main difference being the length. You can always choose your usual size, as well as the next size up, or even two sizes larger (when possible) depending on your desired use.

Thanks to the stretchy and enveloping knit, these t-shirts adapt to different body types and can fit up to size 46, or even 48 depending on desired comfort.

Maintenance tips

Untreated pure wool clothing does not need to be washed often.

• Routine care

- Regular airing outdoors (outside if possible, or in front of an open window)
- Rest after each use: hung on a hanger or drying rack, not left in a ball
- Spot clean stains with ambient water and Ulrich gall soap or real Marseille soap

• Full wash (rare)

- Hand washing highly recommended despite "Machine Washable" label
- Cold or ambient water
- Ulrich Natürlich or Disana liquid wool detergent
- Wash temperature = rinse temperature
- Do not wring, roll in a towel
- Dry flat, away from sun and any heat source

• Maintaining Lanolin

- Treatment (every 2-3 washes) or lanolin impregnation (every 3-4 washes) from time to time to preserve self-cleaning and thermoregulating properties.
- Follow the advice on the product information sheets.

Manufacturing & Ecology

ManyMonths / MaM / MaD clothing is manufactured for the Finnish brand Babyidea by EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers and GOTS certified since 2008 – still a rarity in China and elsewhere. Production adheres to ILO social standards (voluntary work, prohibition of child labor, fair wages, safety, and regulated working hours), and each component is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, making it suitable for contact with babies' skin.

The dyes are produced by certified workshops and tested by independent laboratories. This partner was chosen based on verifiable criteria: technical expertise, traceability, and social guarantees. The goal is transparent and sustainable manufacturing, prioritizing responsible production practices over mere geographical proximity.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Is it a t-shirt or thermal underwear?
It's a versatile t-shirt. It can be worn:
like a classic t-shirt,
as a thermal layer under a sweater or jacket,
as thermoregulating underwear in winter

• Is it suitable for sports or winter activities?
Yes.
It can be used as a breathable thermal layer for winter sports or activities in cool weather, as a natural technical base layer.

• Can you sleep in this t-shirt?
Yes.
Its fine, breathable knit makes it suitable as loungewear or pajamas. This t-shirt is exceptionally helpful and invaluable in case of fever, for sleeping in.

• Does wool make you itch?
No.
The fine knit is soft, often compared to cotton in feel.

• Can it be machine washed?
You can, if you wish, machine wash this wool at less than 30°C, on a short cycle, with a maximum spin speed of 400 rpm or no spin if possible, using a special wool detergent and no fabric softener. However, machine washing is always at your own risk. Hand washing is strongly recommended to preserve the untreated fibers.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
Dozens of times depending on usage, with simple ventilation.

• Is it hot?
It's thermoregulating: warm when it's cold, breathable when it's warm. Adding a base layer of wool or a wool-silk blend is possible in sub-zero temperatures.

• Does wool stretch?
Yes, slightly so with use, but it regains its shape after resting.

• Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, merino wool is finer than a human hair. By maintaining its lanolin, which moisturizes it, you'll have a very comfortable garment to wear.

• Is this an environmentally friendly product?
Yes. Natural fiber, truly biodegradable, durable, certified and ethically produced.

Yuliya's Tips

• If in doubt between 2 sizes, go for the larger one, it will never be too big.

• This product is one of my absolute favorites and I highly recommend it!

• This t-shirt can be worn doubled with a second identical t-shirt or in a larger size in very cold weather.

• Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the wool may need to be cleaned.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich products (laundry detergent, treatment, impregnation, stain-removing soap) are highly recommended.

Babyidea / ManyMonths / MaM

The Babyidea story begins in Finland, in the Helsinki region, as a Scandinavian family business guided by a simple idea: to design products that are truly useful in everyday life and consistent with natural parenting.

MaM® Design's beginnings date back to 2001, during Bettina's maternity leave; she was then a university lecturer. At that time, physiological babywearing was virtually unknown in Europe, and suitable clothing was practically nonexistent. The first creations were therefore born from a concrete need: to make life with a baby easier, without compromising on comfort or materials.
ManyMonths clothes that grow with the child - are born.

The brand has grown alongside its children: from a few boxes stacked in a bedroom serving as a makeshift workshop to a 500 m² logistics space near Helsinki, and then to a network of distributors and boutiques across Europe. Despite this evolution, the objective remains unchanged: to develop sustainable, practical, and respectful solutions in partnership with companies that share the same values.

Following this principle, the manufacturing of ManyMonths, MaM, and MaD clothing was not based on geographical criteria but on technical and human factors. The choice fell on EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers that has been operating for nearly twenty years with high standards of traceability and social responsibility. GOTS certified since 2008—a still rare certification—the manufacturer also adheres to the ILO's international labor standards. Each component is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, and the dyes are tested by independent laboratories.

This partnership reflects the brand's philosophy: prioritizing expertise, transparency, and verifiable guarantees over superficial proximity. The objective remains the same as from the outset: to create clothing designed to last, safe for children, and consistent with a more responsible lifestyle, from design in Finland to manufacturing.

The MaM / MaD collection for adults was born in 2017 to meet the growing demand from parents to finally be able to wear the same wool as their children in ManyMonths.

*******

My business began with the purchase of a simple ManyMonths pure wool bodysuit in 2012. That's when I truly discovered what wool could be like in everyday life. Then, as I outfitted my children with the entire collection, another realization dawned: I wanted to talk about it, explain it, and share it with the world!

That's how my shop was born. This brand was the direct origin of my business, and over the years I have also been very actively involved in its development in France, while influencing certain product developments thanks to feedback from the field.

It all started thanks to Bettina. I will always be grateful to her for these clothes that have accompanied my children - and me - throughout all these years.
