Why this little dickey changes everything

  • Is the scarf forbidden at school or impractical for everyday use?
  • Does your child dislike anything bulky around their neck?
  • Does their neck remain exposed even with their jacket zipped up?
  • When babywearing, does the scarf get in the way or not stay put?
  • Is your baby teething and you're looking to protect their clothes from frequent washing?
  • Do you want to keep their throat warm... without over-layering?

The ManyMonths Dickie is the simple, discreet, and effective solution: protecting exactly where needed, without constraints.

Essential protection, without bulk

This slip-on dickey was designed to replace a scarf:

  • protects the neck, chest, and upper back
  • stays in place all day long
  • does not hinder movement
  • doesn't get tangled, doesn't fall off

Perfect for:

  • school and daycare
  • everyday use
  • outings
  • sleeping when you have a sore throat

Ideal alternative to a scarf

  • zero fasteners, zero knots
  • slips on in seconds
  • remains discreet under a jacket
  • no risk of bulk

→ your child is protected... without even thinking about it

Grows with your child

Like all ManyMonths clothes:

  • stretchy material
  • adaptable cut
  • usable for several years
  • also suitable for adults

A durable accessory that grows with them without becoming too small too quickly.

Designed for everyday comfort

  • neck part: double layer of merino wool
    → reinforced neck protection
  • chest/back part: single layer
    → layers easily without bulk
  • soft, flexible, and comfortable to wear
  • easy to put on, even by a child alone

Also perfect for babywearing

  • does not bother the child
  • protects the upper back when back-carrying
  • stays in place without adjustment

Fewer washes, more simplicity

The Dickie directly protects the exposed area:

  • limits soiling of clothes
  • reduces washing frequency
  • saves time, water, and energy

Benefits of pure wool

  • natural thermoregulation
  • keeps warm without overheating
  • breathable and comfortable
  • naturally antibacterial
  • absorbs moisture without feeling wet

An essential all year round

  • in winter: targeted thermal protection
  • mid-season: light and breathable layer
  • indoors: keeps throat warm without excess bulk

Sizes:

Charmer / Explorer / Adventurer: 3–30 months - 62 to 98 cm

Conqueror & Beyond: from 3 years (98cm), also suitable for adults

Every child grows at their own pace.
I recommend choosing the size according to centimeters rather than age.

ManyMonths have their own size guide

Miracle: Premature (44–50 cm)
Newcomer: 0–3/4 months (50–56/62 cm)
Charmer: 3–6/9 months (62–68/74 cm)
Explorer: 6–12/18 months (68–80/86 cm)
Adventurer: 1–2/2.5 years (80–92/98 cm)
Conqueror: 3–4.5/5 years (98–104/110 cm)
Innovator: 5–7/7.5 years (110–122/128 cm)
Enthusiast: 8–10 years (128–134/140 cm)
Lionheart: 10–12/13 years (140–152/158 cm)

Then older children can choose adult clothing MaM or MaD in size S, then M...

How to choose the right child size for pre-order (delivery in September)

For pre-orders, you always need to anticipate the child's growth between now and receipt. With ManyMonths, it's even simpler:
their sizes are adaptable and cover several standard sizes. This leaves a real margin for growth, without the risk of the garment being too small upon receipt.

Simple rule:

  • never skip a size (because you would be skipping several standard sizes)
  • choose at least the next size up
  • sometimes the same size the child would wear today - only if they have just started wearing it

Maintenance tips

Pure untreated wool clothing does not need to be washed often.

‱ Routine care

- Regular airing outdoors (outside if possible, or in front of an open window)
- Rest after each use: hung on a hanger or drying rack and not left in a ball)
- Local stain removal with ambient water and Ulrich gall soap or real Marseille soap

‱ Full wash (rare)

- Hand washing strongly recommended despite the "Machine washable" label
- Cold or ambient water
- Ulrich NatĂŒrlich or Disana liquid wool detergent
- Wash temperature = rinse temperature
- Do not wring, roll in a towel
- Dry flat, away from sun and any heat source

‱ Maintaining Lanolin

- Treatment (every 2-3 washes) or lanolin impregnation (every 3-4 washes) from time to time to preserve self-cleaning and thermoregulating properties.
- Follow the advice on the product sheets

Manufacturing & Ecology

ManyMonths / MaM / MaD clothing is manufactured for the Finnish brand Babyidea by EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers and GOTS certified since 2008 – still a rarity in China and elsewhere. Production adheres to ILO social standards (voluntary work, prohibition of child labor, fair wages, safety, and regulated working hours), and each component is OEKO-TEX¼ Standard 100 Class I certified, making it suitable for contact with babies' skin.

The dyes are produced by certified workshops and tested by independent laboratories. This partner was chosen based on verifiable criteria: technical expertise, traceability, and social guarantees. The goal is transparent and sustainable manufacturing, prioritizing responsible production practices over mere geographical proximity.

Frequently Asked Questions

‱ Is it suitable for school?
Yes, it's even ideal: no risk, easy to put on, always in place.

‱ Can you sleep with it?
Yes, it's comfortable and doesn't bother you. If the child has a sore throat - keeping it warm at night will be a great help.

‱ Is it suitable for adults?
Yes, larger sizes also fit adults.

‱ Is it too warm indoors?
No, wool naturally regulates temperature.

‱ Doesn't merino wool itch?
The merino wool used for baby clothes is very fine and soft. It is suitable even for sensitive skin. Proper care and maintaining lanolin remain a decisive step for the natural softness of any wool.

Yuliya's Tips

‱ It's the only accessory I've never had to replace since my first purchase in 2013.
Over the years, the collection has simply grown with different colors, as the whole family uses it.

The large size (unique at the time) is a real advantage: practical, durable, and hassle-free.

Children love wearing it in winter, sometimes almost 24/7 if they have a sore throat (their choice!), simply because they feel good in it – throat warm, no discomfort. And that's very telling.

Also indispensable for skiing: perfect protection without the bulk of a scarf.

‱ Hand wash, please!

This simple gesture – and rarely necessary – helps preserve the garment's beautiful shape and size over time.
Gentle care also helps maintain the product's excellent quality, which can be a real advantage if you ever wish to resell it.

ManyMonths garments are easily passed down from family to family, and their second-hand value often remains very appealing.
Well-maintained, used for a long time – then resold, this garment can thus become one of the most economical items in your child's wardrobe.

Babyidea / ManyMonths / MaM

The Babyidea story begins in Finland, in the Helsinki region, as a Scandinavian family business guided by a simple idea: to design products that are truly useful in everyday life and consistent with natural parenting.

MaMÂź Design's beginnings date back to 2001, during Bettina's maternity leave; she was then a university lecturer. At that time, physiological babywearing was virtually unknown in Europe, and suitable clothing was practically nonexistent. The first creations were therefore born from a concrete need: to make life with a baby easier, without compromising on comfort or materials.
ManyMonths clothes that grow with the child - are born.

The brand has grown alongside its children: from a few boxes stacked in a bedroom serving as a makeshift workshop to a 500 mÂČ logistics space near Helsinki, and then to a network of distributors and boutiques across Europe. Despite this evolution, the objective remains unchanged: to develop sustainable, practical, and respectful solutions in partnership with companies that share the same values.

Following this principle, the manufacturing of ManyMonths, MaM, and MaD clothing was not based on geographical criteria but on technical and human factors. The choice fell on EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers that has been operating for nearly twenty years with high standards of traceability and social responsibility. GOTS certified since 2008—a still rare certification—the manufacturer also adheres to the ILO's international labor standards. Each component is OEKO-TEX¼ Standard 100 Class I certified, and the dyes are tested by independent laboratories.

This partnership reflects the brand's philosophy: prioritizing expertise, transparency, and verifiable guarantees over superficial proximity. The objective remains the same as from the outset: to create clothing designed to last, safe for children, and consistent with a more responsible lifestyle, from design in Finland to manufacturing.

The MaM / MaD collection for adults was born in 2017 to meet the growing demand from parents to finally be able to wear the same wool as their children in ManyMonths.

*******

My business began with the purchase of a simple ManyMonths pure wool bodysuit in 2012. That's when I truly discovered what wool could be like in everyday life. Then, as I outfitted my children with the entire collection, another realization dawned: I wanted to talk about it, explain it, and share it with the world!

That's how my shop was born. This brand was the direct origin of my business, and over the years I have also been very actively involved in its development in France, while influencing certain product developments thanks to feedback from the field.

It all started thanks to Bettina. I will always be grateful to her for these clothes that have accompanied my children - and me - throughout all these years.
