This ManyMonths longie can make a real difference if…

  • your child's clothes quickly become too small, forcing you to buy new ones frequently for a very short period of use;
  • you never really know if your child is warm enough… or on the contrary, if they are overdressed;
  • you layer several clothes to ensure they are warm enough, which can restrict their freedom of movement;
  • you would like to reduce the frequency and quantity of washes;
  • you use cloth diapers and would like a garment that is both a natural diaper cover and comfortable pants;
  • you want to keep your child's belly and torso warm, without a tight elastic waistband;
  • you are looking for a natural, ecological, and truly healthy garment for your child.

ManyMonths Longies in pure merino wool

ManyMonths longies are adjustable merino wool trousers that can be worn as comfortable pants or as breathable diaper covers for cloth diapers.

Unlike PUL (polyurethane) covers, wool allows the skin to breathe naturally while protecting against moisture.

Merino wool thus allows moisture to evaporate while maintaining a comfortable temperature around the body: neither too hot nor too cold.

Comfort and freedom of movement

  • Flat and comfortable seams
  • Soft and stretchy knit fabric
  • Easily slips over a cloth diaper, even a thicker night diaper
  • Does not compress the waist
  • Very comfortable for babies and children, especially when carried

The ManyMonths knit construction allows the longie to retain its shape even after intensive use, provided care instructions are followed.

An adjustable and durable garment

The ManyMonths longie accompanies the child for many months, even over a year.

  • At the beginning of a size, it can come up very high on the belly and torso, which is particularly appreciated for small babies or premature infants.
  • As the child grows, it gradually becomes shorter pants or capris, always comfortable.

A garment that is never too big at the beginning… nor too small later.

Reversible and practical

ManyMonths longies are reversible, allowing you to:

  • vary the colors
  • use the other side in case of a small stain

A channel is provided to add elastic to the waist if needed (elastic not included).

The longies are made of double-layered wool, i.e., 760g/m²!

The benefits of merino wool

Merino wool naturally helps regulate body temperature.

It takes about 9 months for a baby's body to learn to regulate its temperature.
Wool can therefore be a valuable aid during this period.

It specifically allows for:

  • skin to breathe
  • absorbing moisture while staying warm
  • limiting odors
  • reducing washing frequency

In case of a small mishap, simple airing is often sufficient thanks to wool's naturally self-cleaning properties.

Used in combination with the ManyMonths wool body/shirt, this set replaced a large quantity of unnecessary and bulky clothes for us.

Ultimately, for a baby, the essentials often come down to just two pieces: these longies and the body/shirt.

As this is a pre-order, photos of the new collection are not yet available.

The visuals presented show the product worn and in use, but some colors are not contractual and are from previous collections.

Sizes:

Miracle / Newcomer: premature - 4 months - (44 - 62 cm)

Charmer: 3–6/9 months (62–74 cm)

Explorer: 6–12/18 months (68–86 cm)

Adventurer Plus: 12 months–4 years - (80-104 cm)

Every child grows at their own pace.
I recommend choosing the size according to the height in centimeters rather than age.

ManyMonths have their own size guide

Miracle: Premature (44–50 cm)
Newcomer: 0–3/4 months (50–56/62 cm)
Charmer: 3–6/9 months (62–68/74 cm)
Explorer: 6–12/18 months (68–80/86 cm)
Adventurer: 1–2/2.5 years (80–92/98 cm)
Conqueror: 3–4.5/5 years (98–104/110 cm)
Innovator: 5–7/7.5 years (110–122/128 cm)
Enthusiast: 8–10 years (128–134/140 cm)
Lionheart: 10–12/13 years (140–152/158 cm)

Then older children can choose adult clothing MaM or MaD in size S, then M...

How to choose the right child size for pre-order (delivery in September)

For pre-orders, you always need to anticipate the child's growth between today and reception. With ManyMonths, it's even simpler:
their sizes are adjustable and cover several classic sizes. This provides a real growth margin, with no risk of the garment being too small upon receipt.

Simple rule:

  • never skip a size (because you would be skipping several classic sizes)
  • choose at least the next size up
  • sometimes the same size the child would wear today - only if it has just started being worn
Composition

• 380 g/m² natural merino wool
• Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certified
• No Superwash or other treatments
• Mulesing-free wool (yarn made exclusively for Babyidea)
• Non-toxic dyes suitable for natural fibers and sensitive skin

Maintenance tips

Garments made of pure, untreated wool do not need to be washed often.

• Regular Care

- Regular airing outdoors (outside if possible, or in front of an open window)
- Rest after each use: hung on a hanger or drying rack, not left in a ball
- Spot clean stains with room temperature water and Ulrich gall soap or real Marseille soap

• Full Wash (infrequent)

- Hand washing is highly recommended despite "Machine washable" label
- Cold or room temperature water
- Ulrich Natürlich or Disana liquid wool detergent
- Wash temperature = rinse temperature
- Do not wring, roll in a towel
- Dry flat, away from sun and any heat source

• Maintaining Lanolin

- Lanolin treatment (every 2-3 washes) or impregnation (every 3-4 washes) from time to time to preserve self-cleaning and thermoregulating properties.
- Follow the instructions on the product sheets for these items.

Manufacturing & Ecology

ManyMonths / MaM / MaD clothing is manufactured for the Finnish brand Babyidea by EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers and GOTS certified since 2008 – still a rarity in China and elsewhere. Production adheres to ILO social standards (voluntary work, prohibition of child labor, fair wages, safety, and regulated working hours), and each component is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, making it suitable for contact with babies' skin.

The dyes are produced by certified workshops and tested by independent laboratories. This partner was chosen based on verifiable criteria: technical expertise, traceability, and social guarantees. The goal is transparent and sustainable manufacturing, prioritizing responsible production practices over mere geographical proximity.

Frequently Asked Questions

• What are ManyMonths longies for?
These are adjustable merino wool pants that can be worn as warm, breathable pants or as natural diaper covers over a cloth diaper.

• Do longies replace a PUL cover?
They can replace it in many cases: wool protects against moisture while remaining breathable, unlike PUL (polyurethane), which is a non-breathable waterproof barrier. Proper lanolization improves protection.

• Do longies need to be lanolized?
Yes, if you use them as diaper covers for cloth diapers: lanolin enhances wool's natural ability to repel moisture.

• Do they fit over a bulky cloth diaper (night diaper)?
Yes. ManyMonths longies have a soft and stretchy knit, and slip on easily even over a thicker diaper, while remaining comfortable.

• Can they be used if the child wears disposable diapers?
Yes, they are still classic pants/leggings, and it's always very practical to have protection even if disposable diapers leak.

• Will the longie be tight on my baby's tummy?
No, that's one of the big advantages: the cut can go high up on the belly and torso at the beginning of a size, without a tight elastic. There is a channel if you want to add an elastic (not supplied), but it's very rare that it's used.

• Why are they called adjustable?
Because they accompany the child for a long time: at first, they can go very high, then, as the child grows, they gradually become shorter pants (like capris) while remaining comfortable.

• How to care for them?
Wool requires little washing: simple airing is often enough, even if it smells strongly of urine - trust the airing, it's very impressive! When washing is necessary, prefer hand washing in cold or lukewarm water (max. 30°C) with a gentle wool detergent, then dry flat.

• How many pieces are needed for a comfortable rotation?
In my experience, 4 longies per size are more than enough for a comfortable rotation (2 for the night, to alternate and air for 24 hours in turn, and 2 for the day, to alternate as well) - and all year round.

In our home, these longies were used exclusively, without other pants or pajamas, and it worked perfectly.
In total, this represents only about 12 longies for the first 3-4 years.

A simple, effective, and minimalist system, especially when used in combination with ManyMonths wool bodysuits/shirts.

• Can they be used all year round?
Yes.
Even though they are double-layered wool, merino wool naturally regulates body temperature and remains comfortable in winter as well as in mid-season. Personal example: even at daycare with the floor heated to +25°C.

• Doesn't merino wool itch?
The merino wool used for baby clothing is very fine and soft. It is suitable even for sensitive skin. Proper care and maintaining lanolin remain a decisive step for the natural softness of all wool.

Yuliya's Tips

• These longies are a truly indispensable and unique item on the market - I simply recommend this garment, you won't believe all the positive aspects it offers, and the size of my product sheet also speaks volumes.

• I advise having 4 copies for both sizes, that's all you'll need! The extra ones are for indulgence or to vary outfits in souvenir photos, as you'll be wearing the same garment for at least a year in all your pictures :)

• Hand wash, please!

This simple and rarely necessary step helps preserve the garment's beautiful shape and size over time. Gentle care also contributes to maintaining the product's excellent quality, which can be a real advantage if you ever wish to resell it.

ManyMonths clothing is easily passed down from family to family, and its second-hand value often remains very attractive. Well-maintained, used for a long time, and then resold, this garment can thus become one of the most economical pieces in your child's wardrobe.

Babyidea / ManyMonths / MaM

The Babyidea story begins in Finland, in the Helsinki region, as a Scandinavian family business guided by a simple idea: to design products that are truly useful in everyday life and consistent with natural parenting.

MaM® Design's beginnings date back to 2001, during Bettina's maternity leave; she was then a university lecturer. At that time, physiological babywearing was virtually unknown in Europe, and suitable clothing was practically nonexistent. The first creations were therefore born from a concrete need: to make life with a baby easier, without compromising on comfort or materials.
ManyMonths clothes that grow with the child - are born.

The brand has grown alongside its children: from a few boxes stacked in a bedroom serving as a makeshift workshop to a 500 m² logistics space near Helsinki, and then to a network of distributors and boutiques across Europe. Despite this evolution, the objective remains unchanged: to develop sustainable, practical, and respectful solutions in partnership with companies that share the same values.

Following this principle, the manufacturing of ManyMonths, MaM, and MaD clothing was not based on geographical criteria but on technical and human factors. The choice fell on EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers that has been operating for nearly twenty years with high standards of traceability and social responsibility. GOTS certified since 2008—a still rare certification—the manufacturer also adheres to the ILO's international labor standards. Each component is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified, and the dyes are tested by independent laboratories.

This partnership reflects the brand's philosophy: prioritizing expertise, transparency, and verifiable guarantees over superficial proximity. The objective remains the same as from the outset: to create clothing designed to last, safe for children, and consistent with a more responsible lifestyle, from design in Finland to manufacturing.

The MaM / MaD collection for adults was born in 2017 to meet the growing demand from parents to finally be able to wear the same wool as their children in ManyMonths.

*******

My business began with the purchase of a simple ManyMonths pure wool bodysuit in 2012. That's when I truly discovered what wool could be like in everyday life. Then, as I outfitted my children with the entire collection, another realization dawned: I wanted to talk about it, explain it, and share it with the world!

That's how my shop was born. This brand was the direct origin of my business, and over the years I have also been very actively involved in its development in France, while influencing certain product developments thanks to feedback from the field.

It all started thanks to Bettina. I will always be grateful to her for these clothes that have accompanied my children - and me - throughout all these years.
