These Reiff ribbed merino wool leggings provide a warm and comfortable base for everyday wear.
Knitted in a ribbed and supple bulk stitch , it stays in place while allowing great freedom of movement, for comfortable wear throughout the day - without deforming and regaining its shape very quickly (a Reiff pride!).

Sizing advice

Note: Every baby and child grows at their own pace. Maison de MaMoulia recommends choosing the size based on height in centimeters rather than an approximate age.

Understanding Reiff children's sizes

At Reiff, each size is designed to last until the next size. For example, a size 86/92 is designed to cover the entire growth period until the next size , approximately from 86 to 98 cm (and often beyond depending on the child's build).

Therefore, this is not a garment strictly limited to 86-92 cm, but an evolving size designed to accompany growth over an extended period.

Maintenance tips

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed frequently.
Wool has a natural self-maintenance capacity thanks to its fibrous structure, keratin and lanolin.

• Routine maintenance (recommended)

- Regular ventilation in the open air (ideally outside, or in front of an open window).

- Rest after each use: hang the garment on a hanger or drying rack, do not leave it in a ball in order to preserve the fiber and its shape.

- Local cleaning of stains under water at room temperature with Ulrich ox gall stain-removing soap or genuine Marseille soap.

• Complete wash (rare)

- A complete wash should remain exceptional.

- Hand washing is highly recommended.

- Cold water or water at room temperature.

- Ulrich Natürlich special liquid wool laundry detergent, ideally the version already enriched with lanolin in order to limit the contact time with water and avoid having to do a separate Cure bath.

-Wash temperature = rinse temperature (avoid any thermal shock).

- Do not wring, wrap in a towel to absorb.

- Dry flat, away from the sun and any source of heat.

• If you choose machine washing:

To be avoided as much as possible.

- “Hand wash” or “Wool” program configured as follows:

-20 °C

- without spin or 400 rpm maximum

- short cycle (40 minutes maximum)
If your machine does not allow these settings, do not use the machine wash function.

Untreated wool naturally felts under the combined effect of heat, water, and friction. These precautions aim to preserve the fiber's intact structure and natural properties.

Manufacturing & Ecology

The merino wool comes from certified organic farms in Patagonia, guaranteed mulesing-free. After washing, spinning, dyeing, and yarn preparation are carried out in Europe according to GOTS and largely IVN standards. The dyes used are synthetic but selected for their compatibility with ecological standards and are controlled within the framework of textile certifications.

The knitting is done in-house on Stoll machines, then the garment making and finishing are carried out within a radius of about 50 km, ensuring traceability and limiting transport.

Accessories are selected according to ecological criteria: natural buttons (mother-of-pearl, corozo, metal), closures mostly made of recycled plastic and components certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This organization allows for precise quality control and low-impact production.

Frequently Asked Questions

• How does this differ from Disana ribbed leggings?

Both are made of ribbed knit, but the Reiff version is designed to regain its shape more easily after stretching. It loses its elasticity less when worn and retains its shape better over time, which is part of the brand's claimed expertise.

• What is the difference between this and the Reiff Elina leggings?
The Elina model is denser and more compact, almost like thick tights, making it suitable for cooler weather, even during the mid-seasons. This particular legging has a more breathable knit and appears thicker, making it better suited to colder temperatures than summer.

• Does wool make you itch?
No.
The fine knit is soft, often compared to cotton in feel.

• Can it be worn directly on the skin?
Yes.
The fine mesh is designed for direct wear against the skin.
Depending on individual sensitivity, a wool/silk layer can be worn underneath.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
Dozens of times depending on usage, with simple ventilation.

• Is it hot?
Wool is thermoregulating: warm when it's cold, breathable when it's warm. Adding a base layer of wool or a wool-silk blend is possible in sub-zero temperatures.

• Does wool stretch?
Yes, slightly so with use, but it regains its shape after rest.

• Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, merino wool is finer than a human hair. By maintaining its lanolin, which moisturizes it, you'll have a very comfortable garment to wear.

Yuliya's Tips

• If you're familiar with ManyMonths leggings (or simply ManyMonths/MaM yarn), this fine, tight knit is very similar. However, its tighter fit will help it retain its shape for longer.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich laundry detergent enriched with lanolin is highly recommended.

At Reiff, the story began in 1939 in a small knitting workshop in Gönningen, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. Since then, the company has remained family-owned and has never strayed from its original craft: working with knitwear. Over the generations, the machines have evolved, but the core idea has remained the same – understanding the material before trying to transform it.

The brand initially focused on baby and children's clothing, where skin sensitivity demands real attention. Over time, the collections expanded to include adults without altering this initial philosophy.

The organic merino wool comes from certified farms, then continues its journey through Europe before being knitted in their own workshops. The garment making and finishing are done locally, with partners located near the company. This proximity isn't just geographical: it allows them to track each garment from the yarn to the finished product.

At Reiff, sustainability isn't based on an abstract promise but on continuity: the same materials, the same partners, the same time-honored craftsmanship. The garments are designed to withstand everyday wear, endure over time, and often be passed down from one person to another – because a well-made textile doesn't need to be replaced quickly.
