Natural purity, thermal comfort and everyday versatility

The Reiff Nici merino wool women's jacket is an easy-to-wear piece: simple, functional and timeless, designed to accompany everyday life without constraints. Its simple cut, zipped closure and discreet pockets make it a practical jacket to slip on as soon as the temperature drops, both indoors and outdoors.

Its structured knit (wool crepe) provides body while remaining supple, for a comfortable and durable garment that spans the seasons.

An essential designed to last.

A special organic merino wool

  • Made from pure organic virgin merino wool
  • Structured wool crepe knit: breathable, stable and resistant
  • Drier feel than fleecy wool (fleece)
  • Excellent shape retention over time
  • Natural thermoregulation and good moisture management

This specific knit is slightly milled after knitting to tighten the stitches and increase density. The fabric remains flexible while gaining in strength and hold.

This results in a wool that is less warm than boiled wool but denser and more protective than a knit, ideal for changing temperatures.

The jacket is particularly suitable for mid-season and cool summer mornings.

A timeless and easy-to-pair jacket

  • minimalist and versatile design
  • comfortable everyday fit
  • practical zip closure
  • functional pockets
  • easy to pair with jeans, a dress or trousers
  • perfect for a sustainable wardrobe
  • it's the same fabric as Reiff's Hoody for children, women and men

The colours are coordinated with the Reiff collection and designed to be easily combined with other natural brands offered in the shop.

Maintenance tips

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed frequently.
Wool has a natural self-maintenance capacity thanks to its fibrous structure, keratin and lanolin.

• Routine maintenance (recommended)

- Regular ventilation in the open air (ideally outside, or in front of an open window).

- Rest after each use: hang the garment on a hanger or drying rack, do not leave it in a ball in order to preserve the fiber and its shape.

- Local cleaning of stains under water at room temperature with Ulrich ox gall stain-removing soap or genuine Marseille soap.

• Complete wash (rare)

- A complete wash should remain exceptional.

- Hand washing is highly recommended.

- Cold water or water at room temperature.

- Ulrich Natürlich special liquid wool laundry detergent, ideally the version already enriched with lanolin in order to limit the contact time with water and avoid having to do a separate Cure bath.

-Wash temperature = rinse temperature (avoid any thermal shock).

- Do not wring, wrap in a towel to absorb.

- Dry flat, away from the sun and any source of heat.

• If you choose machine washing:

To be avoided as much as possible.

- “Hand wash” or “Wool” program configured as follows:

-20 °C

- without spin or 400 rpm maximum

- short cycle (40 minutes maximum)
If your machine does not allow these settings, do not use the machine wash function.

Untreated wool naturally felts under the combined effect of heat, water, and friction. These precautions aim to preserve the fiber's intact structure and natural properties.

Manufacturing & Ecology

The merino wool comes from certified organic farms in Patagonia, guaranteed mulesing-free. After washing, spinning, dyeing, and yarn preparation are carried out in Europe according to GOTS and largely IVN standards. The dyes used are synthetic but selected for their compatibility with ecological standards and are controlled within the framework of textile certifications.

The knitting is done in-house on Stoll machines, then the garment making and finishing are carried out within a radius of about 50 km, ensuring traceability and limiting transport.

Accessories are selected according to ecological criteria: natural buttons (mother-of-pearl, corozo, metal), closures mostly made of recycled plastic and components certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This organization allows for precise quality control and low-impact production.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Is it a warm jacket?
It provides effective protection against moderate cold while remaining breathable. Ideal for mid-season, heated interiors, and layering during winter rather than for extreme cold.

• What does “crepe de laine” mean?
It's a knit that's lightly fulled after knitting to tighten the stitches. The fabric remains supple but becomes denser and more durable. The result: less fuzzy than brushed wool fleece and much less dense than boiled wool, but still stable, supple, and breathable.

• Can it replace a coat?
In mild weather, yes. In low temperatures, it works better as a mid-layer under a coat.

• Can it be worn directly on the skin?
Yes.
The feel is drier than a fluffy wool (fleece) but generally well-tolerated against the skin. For very sensitive skin, a thin wool-silk base layer can improve comfort if needed.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
This jacket can remain unwashed for one or more seasons without any problem!

• Does wool stretch?
Yes, slightly so with use, but it regains its shape after rest.

Yuliya's Tips

• In very cold weather, wearing a Cosilana wool-silk t-shirt underneath is possible to reinforce the thermal layer.

• Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the wool may need to be cleaned.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich laundry detergent enriched with lanolin is highly recommended.

Reiff

At Reiff, the story began in 1939 in a small knitting workshop in Gönningen, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. Since then, the company has remained family-owned and has never strayed from its original craft: working with knitwear. Over the generations, the machines have evolved, but the core idea has remained the same – understanding the material before trying to transform it.

The brand initially focused on baby and children's clothing, where skin sensitivity demands real attention. This experience shaped their approach: prioritizing natural fibers, durable construction, and pieces designed for long-lasting wear. Over time, the collections expanded to include adults without altering this initial philosophy.

The organic merino wool comes from certified farms, then continues its journey through Europe before being knitted in their own workshops. The garment making and finishing are done locally, with partners located near the company. This proximity isn't just geographical: it allows them to track each garment from the yarn to the finished product.

At Reiff, sustainability isn't based on an abstract promise but on continuity: the same materials, the same partners, the same time-honored craftsmanship. The garments are designed to withstand everyday wear, endure over time, and often be passed down from one person to another – because a well-made textile doesn't need to be replaced quickly.
