This product is part of my favorites discovered in Germany when I met the Reiff family.

It was carefully selected not only for the quality of its natural wool, but also for meeting essential expectations:

Size guide:

Reiff sizes are expressed in German sizes. If you are between two sizes and want a well-fitting garment, choose the smaller size.
Example: I am 177cm tall and wear a French M-38, my size at Reiff is an S. For this jacket with another thick layer underneath I would take an M (my usual size).

Size XL (42 DE) corresponds approximately to a French 44.

Note: measurements are given as a guide and may vary by 1 to 1.5 cm. Natural materials are stretchy and react to air humidity, which can slightly influence dimensions.

It is therefore impossible to guarantee perfectly identical measurements from one item to another, regardless of the brand, when working with natural textile fibers

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed frequently.
Wool has a natural self-maintenance capacity thanks to its fibrous structure, keratin and lanolin.

• Routine maintenance (recommended)

- Regular ventilation in the open air (ideally outside, or in front of an open window).

- Rest after each use: hang the garment on a hanger or drying rack, do not leave it in a ball in order to preserve the fiber and its shape.

- Local cleaning of stains under water at room temperature with Ulrich ox gall stain-removing soap or genuine Marseille soap.

• Complete wash (rare)

- A complete wash should remain exceptional.

- Hand washing is highly recommended.

- Cold water or water at room temperature.

- Ulrich Natürlich special liquid wool laundry detergent, ideally the version already enriched with lanolin in order to limit the contact time with water and avoid having to do a separate Cure bath.

-Wash temperature = rinse temperature (avoid any thermal shock).

- Do not wring, wrap in a towel to absorb.

- Dry flat, away from the sun and any source of heat.

• If you choose machine washing:

To be avoided as much as possible.

- “Hand wash” or “Wool” program configured as follows:

-20 °C

- without spin or 400 rpm maximum

- short cycle (40 minutes maximum)
If your machine does not allow these settings, do not use the machine wash function.

Untreated wool naturally felts under the combined effect of heat, water, and friction. These precautions aim to preserve the fiber's intact structure and natural properties.

The merino wool comes from certified organic farms in Patagonia, guaranteed mulesing-free. After washing, spinning, dyeing, and yarn preparation are carried out in Europe according to GOTS and largely IVN standards. The dyes used are synthetic but selected for their compatibility with ecological standards and are controlled within the framework of textile certifications.

The knitting is done in-house on Stoll machines, then the garment making and finishing are carried out within a radius of about 50 km, ensuring traceability and limiting transport.

Accessories are selected according to ecological criteria: natural buttons (mother-of-pearl, corozo, metal), closures mostly made of recycled plastic and components certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This organization allows for precise quality control and low-impact production.

• Does this jacket replace a coat?
In mid-season, yes. In winter, it is mainly used as an insulating layer under a coat, which significantly increases warmth without adding weight.

• Does it really keep you warm despite its lightness?
Yes.
The wool fleece knit traps air, which creates effective insulation while remaining breathable. This avoids the stuffy feel of synthetic materials.

• Cold autumns, winter, and cool outdoor weather. It also works as a mid-layer under a coat in extreme cold. You can also wear it in summer up to 24°C, for example with a thin layer underneath.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
This jacket can easily go one or more seasons without washing!

• Can it be used for outdoor activities?
Yes. Ideal for walking, everyday outdoor use, or travel thanks to its breathable warmth.

• In very cold weather, add a layer of wool-silk and pure wool to enhance thermal regulation.

• Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the wool may need to be cleaned.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich laundry detergent enriched with lanolin is highly recommended.

At Reiff, the story began in 1939 in a small knitting workshop in Gönningen, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. Since then, the company has remained family-owned and has never strayed from its original craft: working with knitwear.
