A versatile dress for maternity
 and beyond

‱ Do you dream of a dress made of natural pure merino wool, suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding, while remaining elegant for everyday wear?
‱ Do you want a comfortable tunic dress that continues to serve you after maternity?
‱ Do you want to travel light without multiplying bulky clothes in winter?
‱ Are you looking to reduce washing frequency thanks to a naturally breathable fiber?
‱ Do you prioritize natural materials, without hidden industrial treatments?

The MaM Motherhood 3-in-1 Tunic Dress is a timeless basic, designed to accompany maternity and become a lasting part of your wardrobe afterwards.

The long-sleeved MaM Motherhood Tunic Dress is made of pure merino wool and designed by MaM Babyidea.
It adapts to body changes during pregnancy, facilitates breastfeeding, and can then be worn as an elegant everyday tunic dress.

Highlights

  • 3-in-1 design: pregnancy, breastfeeding, and everyday wear.
  • Evolving cut: adapts to the body during and after maternity.
  • Horizontal opening under the bust with adjustable tie to adjust the fit and facilitate breastfeeding.
  • Two vertical openings for practical breastfeeding access.
  • Two sewn pockets for practical everyday use.
  • Ribbed knit for a comfortable fit and good elasticity.
  • Natural thermoregulation: helps maintain a comfortable body temperature.
  • Breathable and comfortable, suitable for extended wear.
  • Natural odor control: regular airing is often sufficient between wears.
  • Natural elasticity: wool returns to its shape after use (elbows, post-pregnancy belly) with proper rest.
  • Ideal for travel: lightweight, compact, and requires less washing than a classic garment.
  • Can be worn alone or layered over a wool/silk base layer.
  • Fine, soft, and lightweight knit, pleasant to the touch.
  • Soft seams for optimal comfort against the skin.

Why merino wool for everyday use?

Merino wool naturally helps the body maintain a comfortable temperature: neither too hot, nor too cold.
It absorbs moisture while remaining pleasant to the touch, avoiding the typical discomfort of clothes that trap moisture against the skin.

And since wool naturally resists odors, it often allows for reduced washing: simple airing is frequently sufficient.

Essential first layer

The wool dress is the essential first layer: the one in direct contact with the skin, which directly influences the body's thermal balance and determines its entire thermoregulation. It must therefore be natural and breathable.

It helps keep the skin dry. Moisture is absorbed by the wool, while the dried air can be warmed by body heat and retained by the next layer, for example a knit or thicker wool.

2025/2026 Color Collection

‱ Foggy Black - speckled black

A deep black nuanced with lighter fibers, which adds texture and visual softness. Less strict than a solid black, more vibrant and easy to pair.

‱ Driftwood Taupe - taupe beige

A warm, natural beige, inspired by driftwood. A neutral, soft, and timeless shade, perfect for a capsule wardrobe.

‱ Seabreeze Teal - ocean blue-green

A fresh and luminous blue-green, inspired by marine waters. A balanced color between blue and green, soothing and elegant.

Sizes

S/M - 36/38, L/XL - 40/44

Please note: measurements are indicative and may vary by 1 to 2 cm from one item to another. As natural materials are elastic and living, dimensions can also evolve depending on conditions, particularly ambient humidity. It is therefore impossible to provide perfectly fixed measurements, regardless of the brand of living wool clothing.

S/M L/XL
Length, cm 86 90
Width (at waist approx.), cm 40 42
Sleeves 63 63

In the photos: I wear size S/M for 177 cm, my usual size is M (38/40).

Composition

100% organic cotton against the skin, absorbent layers of pre-washed bamboo viscose fleece (380 gsm), a thin waterproof membrane (PUL), and an outer layer of woven organic cotton with a polyester suede anti-slip strip on the panty side.

The pads become more absorbent over time.
All materials are custom-made for Babyidea Ltd / MaM Design.

Maintenance tips

Pure, untreated wool garments do not need to be washed often.

‱ Routine maintenance

Regular ventilation in the open air (outdoors if possible, or in front of an open window)
Rest after each use: hang on a hanger or drying rack and do not leave crumpled up)
Spot clean stains under running water with Ulrich gall soap or genuine Marseille soap

‱ Complete wash (rare)

Hand washing is strongly recommended despite the "Machine washable" label.
Cold or room temperature water
Liquid laundry detergent for wool Ulrich NatĂŒrlich
Washing temperature = rinsing temperature
No spin cycle
Dry flat, away from sunlight and any heat source

‱ Lanolin Maintenance

Occasionally, treat the fabric (every 2-3 washes) or apply a lanolin treatment (every 3-4 washes) to maintain its self-cleaning and thermoregulating properties. Follow the instructions on the product information sheets.

Manufacturing & Ecology

ManyMonths / MaM / MaD clothing is manufactured for the Finnish brand Babyidea by EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers and GOTS certified since 2008 – still a rarity in China and elsewhere. Production adheres to ILO social standards (voluntary work, prohibition of child labor, fair wages, safety, and regulated working hours), and each component is OEKO-TEX¼ Standard 100 Class I certified, making it suitable for contact with babies' skin.

The dyes are produced by certified workshops and tested by independent laboratories. This partner was chosen based on verifiable criteria: technical expertise, traceability, and social guarantees. The goal is transparent and sustainable manufacturing, prioritizing responsible production practices over mere geographical proximity.

Frequently Asked Questions

‱ Is this a dress only for pregnancy and breastfeeding?
No.
The Motherhood tunic dress is a modern and elegant 3-in-1 dress to wear every day, with or without pregnancy and without breastfeeding.
The openings provided for breastfeeding are discreet and integrated into the design, allowing it to be worn like a classic dress without the function being visible.

‱ Is the design discreet if I am not breastfeeding?
Yes.
The nursing openings are subtly integrated into the design and are not visible when not in use. The dress maintains a modern and streamlined silhouette.

‱ How can this dress be worn?
It can be worn:

- as a dress with tights in winter,
- as a tunic dress with leggings or jeans,
- as an elegant tunic for the office or everyday wear,
- as comfortable clothing at home.

‱ Is it a modern dress despite its maternity function?
Yes.
The cut is contemporary and minimalist, designed to accompany motherhood but also to be worn as an elegant and timeless piece long after.

‱ Is it easy to breastfeed in this dress?
Yes.

- A horizontal opening under the bust with an adjustable tie allows the fit to be adapted.
- Two vertical openings facilitate access for breastfeeding.
- The system is discreet and integrated into the design.

‱ Does wool make you itch?
No.
The fine knit is soft, often compared to cotton in feel.

‱ Can it be worn directly on the skin?
Yes.
The fine mesh is designed for direct wear against the skin.
Depending on individual sensitivity, a wool/silk layer can be worn underneath.

‱ Can it be machine washed?
You can, if you wish, machine wash this wool at less than 30°C, on a short cycle, with a maximum spin speed of 400 rpm or no spin if possible, using a special wool detergent and no fabric softener. However, machine washing is always at your own risk. Hand washing is strongly recommended to preserve the untreated fibers.

‱ How long can it be worn without washing?
Dozens of times depending on usage, with simple ventilation.

‱ Is it hot?
Wool is thermoregulating: warm when it's cold, breathable when it's warm. Adding a base layer of wool or a wool-silk blend is possible in sub-zero temperatures.

‱ Does wool stretch?
Yes, slightly so with use, but it regains its shape after resting.

‱ Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, merino wool is finer than a human hair. By maintaining its lanolin, which moisturizes it, you'll have a very comfortable garment to wear.

‱ Is this an environmentally friendly product?
Yes. Natural fiber, truly biodegradable, durable, certified and ethically produced.

Yuliya's Tips

‱ I have been wearing MaM tunic dresses since they were created in 2017. They have been very useful to me every cold season, worn as classic dresses, because I had never before found an elegant dress made of pure, untreated natural wool.
I owned several in different colors and collections: it quickly became one of my favorite clothes, which I also wore for business meetings, especially to talk about wool - a concrete and relevant example.

‱ This product is one of my absolute favorites and I highly recommend it!

‱ In very cold weather, I wear a Cosilana wool-silk t-shirt underneath for extra warmth. These tunic dresses have maintained their shape and appearance over the years, like all the MaM adult wool garments I've worn.

‱ Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the wool may need to be cleaned.

‱ I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich NatĂŒrlich products (laundry detergent, treatment, impregnation, stain-removing soap) are highly recommended.

Babyidea / ManyMonths / MaM

The Babyidea story begins in Finland, in the Helsinki region, as a Scandinavian family business guided by a simple idea: to design products that are truly useful in everyday life and consistent with natural parenting.

MaMÂź Design's beginnings date back to 2001, during Bettina's maternity leave; she was then a university lecturer. At that time, physiological babywearing was virtually unknown in Europe, and suitable clothing was practically nonexistent. The first creations were therefore born from a concrete need: to make life with a baby easier, without compromising on comfort or materials.
ManyMonths clothes that grow with the child - are born.

The brand has grown alongside its children: from a few boxes stacked in a bedroom serving as a makeshift workshop to a 500 mÂČ logistics space near Helsinki, and then to a network of distributors and boutiques across Europe. Despite this evolution, the objective remains unchanged: to develop sustainable, practical, and respectful solutions in partnership with companies that share the same values.

Following this principle, the manufacturing of ManyMonths, MaM, and MaD clothing was not based on geographical criteria but on technical and human factors. The choice fell on EcoTextile / HempValley (Denmark/China), a workshop specializing in natural fibers that has been operating for nearly twenty years with high standards of traceability and social responsibility. GOTS certified since 2008—a still rare certification—the manufacturer also adheres to the ILO's international labor standards. Each component is OEKO-TEX¼ Standard 100 Class I certified, and the dyes are tested by independent laboratories.

This partnership reflects the brand's philosophy: prioritizing expertise, transparency, and verifiable guarantees over superficial proximity. The objective remains the same as from the outset: to create clothing designed to last, safe for children, and consistent with a more responsible lifestyle, from design in Finland to manufacturing.

The MaM / MaD collection for adults was born in 2017 to meet the growing demand from parents to finally be able to wear the same wool as their children in ManyMonths.

*******

My business began with the purchase of a simple ManyMonths pure wool bodysuit in 2012. That's when I truly discovered what wool could be like in everyday life. Then, as I outfitted my children with the entire collection, another realization dawned: I wanted to talk about it, explain it, and share it with the world!

That's how my shop was born. This brand was the direct origin of my business, and over the years I have also been very actively involved in its development in France, while influencing certain product developments thanks to feedback from the field.

It all started thanks to Bettina. I will always be grateful to her for these clothes that have accompanied my children - and me - throughout all these years.
