This thick Reiff wool and silk t-shirt is a beautiful piece for a natural wardrobe: light, soft, thermoregulating and versatile, designed to be worn directly on the skin daily.

A unique natural technical fabric: wool-silk with an inner loop knit

The fabric is designed with a loop knit (fine terry cloth type) on the inside, with the yarn loops against the skin.
On the outside, the silk provides a smooth and slightly satin appearance, while the inside creates an insulating air cushion between the skin and the garment.

This air cushion improves thermoregulation:

retains warmth when it's cold
allows the skin to breathe when it's warmer

Size guide:

Reiff sizes are expressed in German sizes. If you hesitate between two sizes and want a well-fitted garment, choose the smaller size.
Example: I am 177cm tall and wear an M-38 FR, my size at Reiff is an S.

This t-shirt being quite loose and not fitted to the body - my size is an XS for this product exceptionally. Take one size down from your usual size.

Size XL (42 DE) corresponds approximately to a 44 FR or even a 46 for this product!

About the sizing of wool clothing

Untreated pure wool retains its natural structure.
Unlike fibers stabilized by polymers, it remains flexible and alive: the fiber can stretch naturally (up to about +30%) then return to its shape, without permanent deformation.

Therefore, an untreated wool garment never remains completely fixed to a strict textile pattern.
It adapts to the body, movements, and ambient humidity: the material works, breathes, and accompanies the morphology.

Consequently, sizing does not correspond to a closed category.
The main difference between two sizes is mainly in length (sleeves, total height), while the ease in width remains adaptable.

Thus, for example, a size 44 can also fit a 46 - and depending on the models, sometimes even a 48 - without compromising comfort.

Untreated wool garments do not need to be washed frequently.
Wool has a natural self-maintenance capacity thanks to its fibrous structure, keratin and lanolin.

• Routine maintenance (recommended)

- Regular ventilation in the open air (ideally outside, or in front of an open window).

- Rest after each use: hang the garment on a hanger or drying rack, do not leave it in a ball in order to preserve the fiber and its shape.

- Local cleaning of stains under water at room temperature with Ulrich ox gall stain-removing soap or genuine Marseille soap.

• Complete wash (rare)

- A complete wash should remain exceptional.
- Hand washing is highly recommended.
- Cold water or water at room temperature.
- Ulrich Natürlich special liquid wool laundry detergent, ideally the version already enriched with lanolin in order to limit the contact time with water and avoid having to do a separate Cure bath.
-Wash temperature = rinse temperature (avoid any thermal shock).
- Do not wring, wrap in a towel to absorb.
- Dry flat, away from the sun and any source of heat.

• If you choose machine washing:

To be avoided as much as possible.

- “Hand wash” or “Wool” program configured as follows:

-20 °C
- without spin or 400 rpm maximum
- short cycle (40 minutes maximum)
If your machine does not allow these settings, do not use the machine wash function.

Untreated wool naturally felts under the combined effect of heat, water, and friction. These precautions aim to preserve the fiber's intact structure and natural properties.

The merino wool comes from certified organic farms in Patagonia, guaranteed mulesing-free. After washing, spinning, dyeing, and yarn preparation are carried out in Europe according to GOTS and largely IVN standards. The dyes used are synthetic but selected for their compatibility with ecological standards and are controlled within the framework of textile certifications.

The knitting is done in-house on Stoll machines, then the garment making and finishing are carried out within a radius of about 50 km, ensuring traceability and limiting transport.

Accessories are selected according to ecological criteria: natural buttons (mother-of-pearl, corozo, metal), closures made mostly of recycled plastic and components certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This organization allows for precise quality control and low-impact production.

• Is this t-shirt as thin as a classic wool-silk jersey?
No.
This fabric is significantly thicker and warmer than a very thin wool-silk jersey (like those used in underwear).
Its inner looped knit creates a micro-cushion of insulating air, making it more enveloping and thermoregulating.

• Does wool make you itch?
No.
The fine knit is soft, often compared to cotton in feel.

•For which seasons is it suitable?
This t-shirt is designed for:

- winter (as a first warm layer)
- Mid-season clothing as a standalone garment
- the cool summer days

It naturally regulates temperature thanks to the wool and the textile air cushion.

• Can it be worn directly on the skin?
Yes.
The fine mesh is designed for direct wear against the skin.
Depending on individual sensitivity, a wool/silk layer can be worn underneath.

• How long can it be worn without washing?
Dozens of times depending on usage, with simple ventilation.

• Does it keep you warm despite its t-shirt-like appearance?
Yes.
Its textile structure is more insulating than a classic t-shirt.
The micro-air cushion created by the inner mesh improves thermal insulation without overheating.

• Is it suitable for very sensitive skin or skin prone to eczema?
Yes.
Silk softens wool and reduces feelings of irritation.

• Avoid using deodorants containing oils (organic or homemade): they can clog the fibers and reduce their ability to breathe, just as some diaper rash creams for babies can clog washable diapers.
If an odor persists despite 1 to 2 days of airing in fresh air, the wool may need to be cleaned.

• I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the size and structure of the garment.
Ulrich Natürlich laundry detergent enriched with lanolin is highly recommended.

At Reiff, the story began in 1939 in a small knitting workshop in Gönningen, at the foot of the Swabian Jura.
