Sheep's wool cushion cover - cashmere - Saling, Germany

A true cloud of softness thanks to the cashmere added to the virgin wool!

This sheep's wool and cashmere cushion cover is designed to offer natural, breathable, and lasting comfort. It is suitable for both children and adults, for sleeping or as a decorative accent in a bedroom.

Uses

  • For sleeping, in direct contact with the skin
  • As a natural, warm and vibrant decorative cushion

Natural thermoregulation

Virgin wool creates a feeling of constant comfort and lasting well-being.

  • In winter, the pillow is naturally tempered: the air heated by the body is retained around the head and forms an insulating air cushion, one of the best natural protections against the cold.
  • In summer or warmer weather, wool absorbs moisture and perspiration without feeling damp or cold. It can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture while remaining dry to the touch.

Natural properties

  • Naturally antibacterial: protein fiber with an acidic pH does not provide a favorable environment for bacteria and viruses.
  • Antistatic: does not attract dust and does not provide a habitat for dust mites.
  • Suitable for sensitive and fragile skin.
  • Significantly softer than the pure wool cover, this model will be particularly appreciated by people with increased sensitivity to contact with natural fibers.

Practical details

  • Zipper
  • Sold without cushion
  • Use with the Saling pure virgin wool cushion

Sizes offered

  • 40 x 40 cm - natural decorative cushion
  • 40 × 60 cm - child and adult sleeping pillow

It is also available in "pure wool" and "wool-camel hair" versions.

Why not a 60 x 60 cm format?

Because in sleep ergonomics, a pillow should only support the head, and not the entire head + shoulders + shoulder blades.
A pillow that is too high or too wide puts the spine in the wrong position.

The width can vary depending on the width of the bed, but the ideal height remains 40 cm, to ensure precise and physiological support.

  • To match with the Saling wool-cashmere blanket
  • To fully enjoy the benefits of merino wool, use on the large Kaiser sheepskin
Composition

95% virgin wool
5% cashmere
Backing-lining: 100% organic cotton (rare because other brands usually use polyester backing).

Locally produced in Germany, guaranteed mulesing-free
Superior quality, washed and processed fiber without harsh treatments

Conseils d'entretien

‱ Woolen products do not need to be washed often.

‱ Regular ventilation with fresh air. This is more than enough. Wool products can go for years without washing thanks to their self-cleaning properties.

‱ Localized spots.
Spot cleaning only, without immersing the entire product.

‱ Exceptional thorough wash.
Hand wash in a basin.
Ambient water, identical at each stage.
Ulrich special lambskin laundry detergent enriched with lanolin.
No fabric softener, but possibly a little white vinegar in the final rinse.

‱ Spin drying.
Squeeze gently without twisting
Pat dry with a towel
Dry flat, never on a radiator
Avoid direct sunlight

Fitness
Reshape by gently pulling on the sides while the cover is still damp. Repeat if necessary during drying.
Ventilate regularly with fresh air

‱ It is also possible to brush the cover, very gently, from time to time, with the special Kaiser brush to lift the flattened fibers in the friction areas
Brushing is not mandatory, but can help maintain the appearance and loft of long fibers. It should always be done very gently.

Fabrication & Écologie

Saling is a German family brand renowned for its expertise with natural materials, particularly wool. Their products are designed with durable German quality in mind, built to last for many years.

The wool used comes from local farms, guaranteed mulesing-free, and meets strict specifications regarding origin, traceability, and fiber processing. Every stage of production, from raw material selection to finishing, is geared towards the product's durability, strength, and longevity. The seams are neat, the structure is stable, and the fiber's strength is maintained over time.

Saling's philosophy is based on the exclusive use of natural materials, sourced from renewable resources, without unnecessary artifice. The wool is washed and combed using gentle methods that do not alter its natural structure. No harsh chemical treatments are applied: the fiber thus retains its essential properties – breathability, temperature regulation, strength, and durability.

Production is local, in Germany, which contributes to reducing the environmental footprint and supporting short industrial and artisanal supply chains. The materials chosen are biodegradable, free of unnecessary plastic, and selected for their genuine durability.

Each Saling product is intended to be the expression of a responsible and conscious approach: preserving the authenticity of the fibers, offering healthy and lasting comfort, while respecting the environment and future generations.

Questions fréquentes

‱ Is this cover softer than the 100% wool version?
Yes.
The addition of cashmere and the long pile finish make this cover noticeably softer and more supple than the pure virgin wool version.
It is particularly appreciated by people who are very sensitive to touch or who find classic wool too "present" in contact with the skin.

‱ Is this cushion cover suitable for children?
Yes, with one nuance.
The softness and "cuddly" effect of long hair are often greatly appreciated by children.
However, long fibers can be tempting for younger children to handle or pull. It is therefore advisable to adapt the product's use according to the child's age.

‱ Is it possible to sleep directly on a wool cover?
Yes.
It is perfectly suited for use while sleeping.
Wool retains its thermoregulatory properties, while cashmere provides additional comfort, being more enveloping and softer.

‱ Does the cover keep you warm in summer?
No.
Wool does not “keep you warm” in the classical sense: it thermoregulates.
In summer or hot weather, it absorbs moisture and prevents the feeling of dampness or stickiness, while remaining dry to the touch.

‱ Is this cover machine washable?
No.
It is not recommended to machine wash the wool cover to avoid felting and deformation of the fibers.
The main maintenance consists of ventilation and occasional brushing.

‱ How do I care for the cover on a daily basis?
Regular ventilation with fresh air, especially after a particularly restless night when the cover may have absorbed more moisture

‱ What to do in case of a stain?
Clean only the affected area, with room temperature water, using a genuine gall or Marseille soap, without immersing the entire cover.

‱ Does wool retain odors?
No.
Thanks to lanolin, odors do not adhere to the fiber.
Simply airing the room will restore a neutral and fresh scent.

‱ Does the cover attract dust mites or dust?
No.
Wool is antistatic and does not retain dust.
Dust mites do not find a favorable environment to develop there due to the very acidic pH of wool.

‱ Does this cover come with a cushion?
No.
The cover is sold separately.
It is designed to be used with the Saling pure virgin wool cushion. Or with another cushion with natural filling of the same dimensions.

‱ Can a pillowcase be used over the cover?
Yes.
It's possible to add a linen pillowcase (if possible, to maintain the thermoregulatory properties), particularly to adjust the feel if needed. But the main advantage of this cover is precisely its thermoregulatory capacity, ideal for people who sweat a lot during sleep.

‱ Is the cover suitable for allergy sufferers?
Yes.
Virgin wool is generally better tolerated than synthetic fibers because it is breathable, free from harsh chemical treatments, and naturally antibacterial.

Conseils de Yuliya

If you wish, you can occasionally use the Kaiser special sheepskin brush.
Brushing helps to lift flattened hairs in areas of friction, restore volume and maintain the thermoregulatory capabilities of wool.
It must be done delicately and only occasionally.

Saling
